Yes. You have to examine the bigger picture. Look at why we would send them to war in the first place.

yes you can support the troops without supporting the occupation.
Our troops are just doing what they are ordered to do-their job. The job itself sucks so it is not their fault so you don't hold it against them.
it is like the man who deals with problem septic tanks. the job stinks but it is still his job.

yes, of course! I'm sure the German's supported their young men (the troops) even though they didn't agree with (or were misinformed) with Hiter's wars.

Yes, but I personally support neither, nor do I buy into the mantra of them "fighting for freedom" but instead, fight for the interests of the government that they serve.
