Questions about Provera?

Question

My docotor just rx Provera. Iv had my period for 29 days now, so he told me to take 1 pill a day for 5 days and call him when Im done. What does Provera do? I really cant find info online..

Iv read about Provera online.. but it only says how it helps when you MISS a period.. it helps it come down.. but in my case Iv had it for almost a moth..how will this help?
