~~~ Most people care what some people will think about you, it's human nature. To feel confident you can tell yourself that you don't care what they think. My husband used to say...."My name's Glatt and I don't give a ****!" I tried that too myself, and it did make me feel confident and not worry about the opinions of others. Most of the time I really don't care because I am true to myself first. But, in this case, I want to let it be known....I censored that swear word up there. I'm a lady and I try not to cuss. ~~~
I don't that's possible... There is definitely something about EVERYONE that they don't like. If someone, anyone touches on that subject, they will be effected. I'm an extremely confident person. I've been through a lot in my life and I don't let the small, petty things that others say get to me. It all has to do with self-strength. If you can be strong and confident in yourself, others will bounce off of you like they never existed. The only way to do that is to compliment your highlights for your own well-being. Find the things you like about yourself, find the things that make you happy about yourself. Use that as a tool to block out the negative. It's a process for sure, but in the end if you can look at others and not judge them, you can negate their attacks.
Hi James,
I am confident about my own views/decisions/beliefs and confident enough to know I SHOULDN'T care what other people think but there's still a bit in me that is affected by what other people say. I suppose too it depends on how close the people are to you because I care about what my family and loved-ones think and I would hate to do anything that would hurt or upset them. It all has to be balanced between common-sense, confidence and sensitivity too I think.
Me! I would like for everyone to love me, but that's not possible, so here I am! I like me and so do the people I actually care about. I know I am flawed, but God must have made me like I am for SOME reason and He likes me!
One thing that worked for me years ago was just "acting" my way through it. I was shy by nature, but forced into social settings where I had to make a good impression. Taking baby steps with it, I would pull my shoulders back, stand up straight and tall, plant a smile on my face (most powerful) and walk into the room like I owned it. Throw yourself into situations where you are forced to exercise your social skills and it will come! Practice makes perfect, right? Or close enough! Really - a smile can do wonders for how others perceive you - very powerful!
I'd say no one. It's all in the mind. We're social beings and we always consider what others think. We just don't want to show it because it will make us look desperate and frightened.
You can be confident enough by not living your life thinking what would others think if you did this or that by just doing what needs to be done. Just live your life...
I don't give a flip what other people think unless they have authority over me. I'm retired and there are very few people who can tell me what to do anymore. The law matters, my husband I negotiate with, my family sometimes they matter, for the most part, people can like me or not. If they don't like the way I look, they can look some where else.
In general, I try to be kind and fair minded, but if someone doesn't agree with me that is just tough 'taters.
It depends on what you're talking about. Society places rules, laws, and hidden agendas as far as making you care about what they think of you. For instance... law - don't kill, it makes you care about what society thinks. Hidden agenda - no dating of co-workers... makes you care about what the company thinks. Rule - keep silent at a church, makes you care about what the church thinks.
Unfortunately there are so many rules out there, that you (as a young adult) are confused about what you can or cannot do about expressing yourself. As you get older you start to have a clear understanding of all the society rules and you start to form an opinion on whether these rules are fair and by acting against them you can actually have an impact on changing them.
The reason for your lack of confidence is because you lack knowledge. If you want to accelerate your process of getting confidence, you must accelerate you process of acquiring knowledge. That's how the world exists... you either lead or you are lead. Get ahead of the pack and show them that you know what's going on, they will listen, and you will gain confidence.
I am confident enough but there is a fine line between being confident enough and being rude and trying to force your point of view, beliefs, etc on to someone else. You can accept yourself for who you are very easily it's accepting others for who they are is the hard one.
We can not 100% disregard the opinions of others while we are living in a society.
You will be confident enough when you are sure that you are right.
I am. I have realized that it is a waste of time to try to be like everyone else. Just know that they are stupid for making you think you need to care what they think. Don't waste your life making sure other think highly of you if they're not even your friends. Don't make others feel the same way that they should care what you think. Be yourself and those people might start caring about what you think. Karma...♥
