Give her five (5) strong reasons for why you should get a computer and back them up with supporting details. Here are a few things to tell her:
1. You need a computer for school. It will greatly help with your school work. Tell her that your cousin says that you really need a computer. I'm in middle school, and home computers are almost a necessity. You could barely survive in school without it. You will do better in school.
2. Going to the library is a hassle for not only you, but your grandparents. You could miss some homework, if something comes up for your grandparents.
3. Getting a computer will pay off because computers usually last long, and it will be very useful in all of your high school years. You will probably need to use it three days a week if not the whole week. Computers are a valuable resource because it has so many things to offer.

Make her a proposal that she cannot refuse.
Explain to her that you are putting your grandparents out of the way to go the library, your going to high school and this therefore means more trips to the library and more in convenience for your grandparents, list the reasons that you should have a computer.
Stress how bad you feel about working your grandparents so much when it is not necessary. Tell her that you will have time to help out more because you wont have to spend long hours at the library.
You May also make the same proposition to your grandparents and ask them to back you up.
all the best

y dont u live with ur mom???
anyways.
1. Understand why your parent doesn't want you to have a laptop. Some possible reasons are: "They're too expensive". "We already have a computer, why do you need a laptop". "I'm not getting you a laptop just so you can stay up all night on AIM or myspace and talk the night away!" You get the point. Knowing what your parents don't like about the 'laptop idea' is very important because than you know how to convince them. Long before Christmas or your birthday, like, months and months ahead, bring up a laptop and see what they say. If it sounds like they're totally against it (which they probably will be) than you have some severe convincing to take care of. If they sound 'okay' about it, still try to do some serous convincing because it sure can't hurt.
2. Do some research on laptops. Not a serious Highschool Research Paper, but surf the web a bit and compare some prices of any laptops you like.Chances are you'll have to go for one that isn't exactly top of the line, but if you're lucky, you'll get one better than average. Price is everything sometimes. If you can find a good deal on a laptop, than your mom or dad would definately consider it.
3. Spend less time on the computer you already have. Though it sounds like the exact opposite of what you should do, it's not. Parents really don't like the idea of getting you a computer you can just take into your room or anywhere else for that matter, allowing you to sit secluded from everyone else and send emails all day. If you show them your life isn't really revolving around the computer and you will interact with them, they might start thinking about it.
4. Identify the skills that you have that your parents appreciate or that your peers admire. Let's assume that you compose your own music and your friends tell you that you are good at it.
5. Look/arrange for an opportunity to showcase your talent to a big audience. Let's assume that at a school function you perform in front of a huge audience. Since the composition are your original ones, chances are high that it will be appreciated by the crowd.
6. Address the crowd after your performance. Ask one of your friends to video shoot your talk. While addressing the crowd tell them how grateful you are to your parents who have supported you so much in developing this talent (even if they really haven't).
7. Go home and talk to your parents about the show and tell them that it was appreciated well and you are grateful to them. Don't talk much about it that day. Let them leave with your statement for a day.
8. Ask your friend to deliver the video containing your performance and more importantly you addressing the crowd.
9. Ensure that your parents watch the video closely. There are chances that they will get into a stage where their emotions will be overpowering. It may be because of happiness or because of repentance. These powerful emotions will set the stage for you to talk.
10. Slowly tell them how they could help you further your skills. A laptop could go a long way in improving your hobby. Show them the advantage you will have in mixing music and experimenting with a laptop.
11. Be prepared with some information about the laptop models in the market. Choose an expensive model and one that you would appreciate owning. Tell them about various laptops. Talk about the expensive one and then tell them that it is very good but you don't want your parents' money to go into an expensive gadget when you could manage with a lower inexpensive version. Then tell them about the lower cost model that you want to purchase.
12. Be patient and don't hurry up with things. Talk about this but ensure that you do not become over demanding. If you know your parents are not in apostion to support the expense immediately then take a promise and wait for the right time.

Explain to your mother that now-a-days a computer is a must, for school that is. That it may be hard on your grandparents to have to take you to the library for your school work. (even though I'm sure your grandparents are more than okay with taking you to get your homework done). Tell her it may be a big chunk of money right now but if you add up gas cost and inconvenience of not being able to do your homework in the comfort of your own home..If she says no be understanding though computers do cost a big chunk of money...I hope this helps.

Tell her to see the big picture. Buying a computer may look expensive, but with the high price of the gas, it is cheaper to have a computer at home. Also, tell her that you can do even better at school with a computer, since you (if you get Internet) can have access to valuable information for your homework. And having the computer at home gives you more flexibility to make better and more creative written projects. I got my first computer when I was on my second year at college. And that was such a grief!!! Tell her that a computer nowadays is like a car, is not a commodity is a necessity.

Wow, you really do need one now for HS. And yeah, the library just doesn't cut it. Limited time and sometimes websites are blocked because it is a public computer and you won't be able to do the proper research because of the blocking.
Use your summer doing research on finding a cheap one and working to save as much as you can (from doing odd jobs and your allowance, if you get one) to help pay for one. You don't need the top of the line computer for HS, just something that you can do internet research on and have a typing program on (you can always print at the library if you don't have a printer). And have your cousins mention how neccesary/glad/dependent they are on their computers for their schoolwork around your mom (and tell them to downplay how much time the spend on myspace and such in front of her).
Good Luck!

Make a fake diary and write an entry were you talk about your want. Like this...
Dear Diary,
I don't want to ask, but I know I'm really going to need a computer for high school. I know it is going to be expensive and all, but we'll probably spend more money on gas running to and from the liabrary...
Go on with other things so it doesn't look posed. Leave this diary laying out in the open( On the couch, your bedstand, floor in your room, ect.)

Write up a contract with them that lists chores and jobs you can do at home and in the yard over 30 days in exchange for at least a $1000 computer. Tell them it will be great for school, and you won't have to be driven to the library all the time.

I don't know that you have to convince your mother to buy you one. With all the public computers around, schools giving them away, used ones around, your friends getting rid of last years models, extra ones left in the local trash dumpsters you can probably pick one or more up by yourself about a dozen ways. Plus if you teacher asks you to use a computer that teacher has the obligation to provide you access without mom's help. Good luck on your future computing.
