I don't believe they can change a cultural attitude over night.
Built up resentment and hostility is all part of the "ambience" of France.
I was there, and while I loved the art, food & wine, I could do without the people-totally. Boycott or not, I'll never go back.

The boycott may have helped, but more to the point, French people have realized on their own that there interests lie with the West. They have had so much trouble with unruly immigrants who reject the entire premise of democracy and European culture, that the French are starting to push back at them. This probably also means that they will become friendlier toward other Westerners.

I am not sure how this position regarding French politeness began. However, I have heard it repeated on a number of occasions. It is sad that the manners of a few are perceived to reflect the manners of the masses. It is obvious that many people find it difficult to separate their opinions from facts. One has to admit that the manners of people in any given country are subject to scrutiny.

Boycott, what boycott and from whom??? France is still the first tourist destination around the world. So if there were such a boycott, well it didn't work.

A Zebra can't loose his stripes. The French are a society that is different from the sugar coated society we have. They tell it like it is, good for them. Hope they will not change, they will loose their originality.
