It takes about 60-80 days for eggs to hatch and here is some information you need to know about reproduction.

Female turtles will lay eggs no matter what-they just may not be fertilized if there is no male meaning no hatchlings will result.

You need to set up a 30-50 gallon Rubbermaid container with a mix of sand and organic compost like reptile dirt or potting soil without fertilizer. Heat this area with a heat bulb preferably in a clamp lamp. Place turtle in there when gravid for about an hour per day. Signs of being gravid include restlessness and scratching the side of the tank.

20 or more eggs can result each time the turtle lays eggs known as a clutch. If the turtle does not lay eggs in container take for walks daily but if they are retaining eggs you need to see a herp vet as that is dangerous.

After the eggs are laid destroy them; you cannot sell them since you are not a licensed breeder and they may not be fertile anyway. After she lays them she doesn't have to see them again.

Good luck.

As others have said, turtles do not assist their young in any way once they have hatched out. Once the eggs are layed and the eggs are covered in a nest, they are on their own. If this is a pet turtle and there was no male turtle around to fertilize, then do what you want with the eggs because they are unfertile and will not hatch.

It takes about 45-90 for turtle eggs to hatch. And mother turtles don't get back to see if the eggs hatched or not, it's the last time they see them when they lay eggs on the beach. The baby turtles after hatched (if they survive without being eaten by other animals) will go to the sea and try to survive on their own.

Depending on the species, the eggs will hatch in between 20 and 340 days, with 2-3 months being the norm.

Mom will not return to the eggs- but if you are thinking about digging them up and trying to hatch them, do some research- this is trickier than you might think.
