well the title explains it all but I want to know what the difference is in an open fuel system & a closed fuel system. Thanks

An open system is vented into the air, all newer vehicles, since 96, sold in the US have sealed fuel systems to contain hrdacarbon emmisions. By law they have to have a system to monitor the integrity of the system.
