It certainly seems to be becoming more prevalent even in the last 10 years since I've been one.

Why are parents not doing a better job? And spoiling them with too much stuff?

Kids need attention, not stuff. I really think that's the problem. They need responsibility to learn to work for their stuff so that they appreciate it.

What do you guys think?

Now a day, careers, money and other aspects of working life prevent the parents to dedicate time for their children. The lack of discipline, love and attention is substituted by providing their kids with toys, money, clothes. This is the way of compensating for the lost time. I think it is a mistake, I do understand that children need clothes, and that now a day two salaries are not enough. But I think that there should be a balance in life. Family should always come first, this is essential to raise good, citizen for the future!

i agree somewhat - yes, parents are giving their kids too much and kids are not getting outside and being active. My kids have sooooo much stuff and (they are 10 and 8) and i don't know of anything that they don't have BUT we make them work for most of it.... they may get overpaid for the work but at least they are doing it. My daughter even has to do a chore to get her American Girl magazine subscription renewed. I have just today made a "daily schedule of activities" for the summer cuz i think my kids have it too easy. They now will have at least 20 min of activity a day even if it is on the treadmill they will also be reading for 20 min every day and writing for 10 min about what they have read. It is the parents responsibility to help their children become good, respectable adults and showering them with all they could ever dream of is NOT gonna help them in the long run. I cant say my kids don't have but they do have to work a bit for the xtras.

As a teen my self i don't think that the majority of teens are get spoiled of cores there will be the few that have rich Mommy's and daddy's and get what ever they want but for regular kids with all this new technology coming out its hard not to get it and i bet their baby boomer generation was younger and TVs started coming out and they had type writers. there parents thought that they were spoiled to its just because there other generation has not had stuff like this so they consider it to being spoiled.

Trust me, I noticed this already back when I was 23. Parents just don't care anymore. They let their kids run wild through a restaurant, they don't care if the kids are having co-ed sleepovers, or being out until 4 a.m. My parents would have kicked my butt, or at least grounded me and taken away car privileges. No, parents nowadays buy their kids a new car after they get in a wreck. There's no accountability anymore. And if I would have tried to walk out of the house in some of the things girls wear now, my mother would have had something to say about it!

I agree and for some reason they seem to be getting dumber. That may be the lazyness too or all the technology doing everything for them. I worry what life is going to be like when my kids are teenagers. I don't want to be quick to blame the parents right away because i think it is a combination of many things, but something has got to change.
