how do you send a letter from the computer to a fax machine?

i got this new fax machine and i want to know if it works but i dont know any one else who has one so i thouthof seeding a letter from my computer but i dont know how plz help.

You must have a fax / modem in your pc. If you do not, you would have to buy one and put it in. If you were to buy one, you would not need the FAX machine so purchase is unwise.

If you have a fax / modem in your pc, activate the FAX capability (see Help in Windows for directions). Remember that you need 2 phone lines - one for the outgoing FAX from the pc and one for the inbound fax to the FAX machine. Each has to have a different phone number.

If you do not have a fax / modem you may be able to have a friend send a test fax.

You can go to kinkos (it's now Fedex kinkos) and they have fax machines you can use there. It costs about a dollar a page, something like that. Just write down your fax number, go there, and send a fax to it. You could even have a friend stay at your house and let you know if it goes through.
