Clever question.
I say "Yes". here's my reasoning.
Bad news is never welcome--and I have 60 years of experience of hearing almost nothing else as material for studying that phenomenon. Logically, then it cannot ever be "good news".
But the one time that some piece of bad news can have good "timing" is if one learns it in time to make profitable use of not wasted resources, time, nor hopes on something that one need no longer concern oneself about.
If you know it's 100% going to rain all dy long on next Saturday, you cancel the outing to the beach
If a job has already been given to someone less qualified, you don't waste time contacting the job-tsar who blew it.
If you find out a member of the opposite sex has a categorical character flaw, you stop thinking of that person reomantically.
Etc., etc.
"Forewarned is forearmed" as the adage goes...
There's another phrase that applies here, "Boy, am I glad I found out in time"....
That's what you've really asked about. Thanks for having done so.

Bad news is just when "**** happens". **** happens all the time so the only clever thing about bad news is that It happens when you don't need it the most. Some people say that no news is good news, but what if that news has bad timing and has just been delayed for a while.
My theory is that 50% of the time bad news does have good timing and the other 50% it doesnt. **** happens my friend, who knows where or when it could strike the most.
I hope that this answer has not brought bad news to you at the wrong time. LOL x

Is it ever a good time for bad news? It usually times itself to coincide with other bad news. That could be considered good in that you deal with it all at once and then get past it rather than be dealing with bad news all the time.
I hope you're just asking to be asking and not actually experiencing it...

No. Just last night, my best friends dog, sister of my two White Beests, died. This is a family thing, really. They are over 13, and I have known all of them since they were about 6 hours old. My Beesties all get treated as family members, but I told them they cannot have an iPod, nor watch TV after 9 PM. We just all spent a few weeks together in May and June. I know they are getting old, but we all partied hard back in the old days. All three drank beer back then, and one even liked gin.

There are times when bad news can be a silver lining, especially if it means a delay which can afford one the opportunity to make a bad situation better

Why sure, There usually find something good(timing) in most
anything if ya just look. I had been thinkin' about changing jobs
decided to just look around a bit.(found one) Went to work the
following Monday and found-out we were fixing to have a cut
back. So, with their blessings worked the week-out and went
to my new assignment the following Monday.(good-timing!)

Sort of, sometimes...my truck was destroyed right before I was going to fill up the gas tank. Bad news, lost the truck...good timing, the gas tank was almost empty.

Bad news waits outside your house for hours, just waiting for the perfect time to ruin your day.

In my estimation.......nope.
I mean, that's bad news's job, isn't it? To hit you when you're not looking?
I know it sucks.......but at least it provides the basis of comparison for good news.
