Straight guys know that being gay isn’t a choice. Have you ever met a straight guy who said it’s a choice available to him personally?
The ones who have the problem are people like Shirley, they have mental health problems because of their religious child abuse upbringing.

I do not believe it is a choice, I believe being gay is something you are or your aren't from the very beginning. I think some straight people don't understand, but I think more and more are becoming more aware that it's not a choice. Some people are ignorant that is true but that is true about all kinds of things in this world. There will always be ignorant people, that is THEIR problem not yours.
Hopefully more people will come to learn the truth that you are born that either gay, straight or even Bi. Then there will be less people who feel they must stay in the closet or deny who they are or how they feel. And hopefully there will be less teens who commit suicide because of coming to terms with being gay, that really is the saddest part.
So there are straight people that know it's not a choice.

Gay sexual orientation is not a choice any more than heterosexual orientation is a choice both are a natural human variations like height or IQ.
Do I "choose" to follow though with gay physical relationships?... I'm not sure there are viable alternative choices... it would be quite bonkers to choose to try to be straight when I know I am gay, so heterosexual relationships are not a viable choice option... I don't want to live in the closet and have a wife as a beard (disguise) to please others and just to make them feel more comfortable.
Celibacy is way extreme and best suited to professional Godbots like nuns, priests and monks...even they don't handle celibacy well, we can see the casualties celibacy results in, so celibacy is not a viable choice option either.
The only viable choice is accepting myself as gay and loving another gay person, in fact it's the perfect choice if it is indeed a choice at all ... plus it's honest and true, I don't have a problem so I guess the problem is with you.

no its not a choice but don't think that all straight people think like that i don't i do believe that most are born gay and i also believe that some people make a choice to practice the lifestyle because when you are a gay woman with 8 children how are you ever gay now to try sex with a man once and get pregnant accidently and choose to keep your baby and then go gay well ican believe and understand how you can not like dick but to have seven more with seven more dads then you are never gay ou just like oral sex and you are a freak but you are not gay

I'm straight and I believe being gay is not a choice. I believe in God and I know God doesn't look down on gays. God is love. Animals are gay, and God made them too. Everyone has labels. Once upon a time, blacks and woman were considered inferior beings in Christian eyes. I don't think someone's sex life defines them anyway. What if all the straights were asked to define themselves by their sexual acts. Do you want to know if your child's teacher uses a sex toy or your doctor's into woman's panties, or if your neighbor's into anal...NO!

There are not many straight people who think it's a choice. They know a lot more about sexual orientation than their parents did and many people know at least one person who is gay or lesbian...you couldn't have said that 20 years ago.
But there are a small group of fundamentalists who want to invalidate our existence and they keep the myth alive...and they are very loud.

In response to "Full Gopel Shirley", first I think you need to read your Bible just a little more. The Bible contains only four direct admonishments towards homosexuals; yet contains over 340 direct admonishments towards heterosexuals. Does that mean God loves heterosexuals less? Or does it mean that heterosexuals need more supervision?
Second, in what book of the Bible did I miss that Judgement is your responsibility? The last part that I read, unless there is a new book, says "Judgement is mine sayeth the Lord..." and "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone..."
Plus, since you want to be a litteralist on the Bible's interpretations, since you are a woman, you are suppossed to be underneath men. Your opinion doesn't really matter, because only that of your husband does.
However, one must realize that the Bible was written by men in the name of God, and was written in a time that humanity needed reproduction. In our current times, there is sever over crowdning and over population, so why would it not make sense for people to find God's greatest gift, LOVE and make people that will not reproduce, but yet will be fantastic parents to children that need them. ie: Homosexuals.
People like you are what gives Christianity a bad reputation. Who are you to say what is and isn't a sin. Doesn't the Bible teach unconditional LOVE and ACCEPTANCE for ALL of God's children? You have much to learn.

Because some of us experience baffling occurrences with our own gay family members that just don't add up. How is it that my aunt was lesbian ever since her early teens and all of a sudden became straight and married a man when she reached middle age? Besides, many straight people have been known to have gay/lesbian experiences during their pubescent years. It's a possibility that homosexuality is a choice. We aren't sure, but we don't want to throw out any possibilities either.

I'm not sure if it's a choice, a genetic result, or if it's similar to a fetish where early life events determine an uncontrollable turn on (using fetish in the classic/literal sense).
In any case, I don't blame the person for being the way that they are, even if it differs from my lifestyle.

You're correct, having brown eyes is not a sin but the Bible proclaims that homosexsuality is abomination (detestable).
It goes against the natural order of creation.
The good news is: you still have time to correct your decision (choice).
