I know it might be the compressor but Im not to sure. I have a 1998 4 door gmc jimmy and we put freeon in it and also, bought a compressor from a junk yard. What could be the problem, bad compressor?

was it the right kind of refridgerant? was it R134? if not its not going to work. but it could possibly be the compressor/condensor. good luck

Your problem is not limited to trucks or cars or any maker for that matter.

The problem is that the heater coil and air conditioner coils are near each other. Air is diverted from a.c. coils to heater coil when heat is wanted and from hearter coil to a.c. coil when a.c. is wanted. The heater coil is hot from engine coolant always going through it - and some heat always radiates.

I suspect the car makers wish they had more room to separate the two but apparently they do not.

If the a.c. is turned on, you should realize cold air however. If you do not, then the compressor is not functioning.
