I know it has been asked but, I will ask again...who are some of the best bass players of all time. While Clypool is good I don't think he is in the top 10. Your thoughts?

Mark King - Level 42
Paul McCartney
Michael Anthony - Van Halen
John Taylor - Duran Duran
Flea - Red Hot Chili Peppers
John McVie - Fleetwood Mac
Victor Wooten - (not so much rock but is great!)

I know I am leaving out some but that is just to some that come to mind.

I can't pick just one, so I'll give you my Top Five:

Bernard Edwards, CHIC
John Paul Jones, LED ZEPPELIN
Mike Rutherford, GENESIS
John Entwistle, THE WHO
Jeff Berlin, BRUFORD

And I have to mention James Jamerson, Jr., the late great member of The Funk Brothers. He set the standard for everyone on the list above.

For my vote I'd say that Victor Wooten and Bootsy are amazing....Victor Wooten's solos are stunning. I have never have seen Bootsy live though. Flea and Tina Weymouth are great as well.

I like Geddy Lee from Rush, John Entwhistle from The Who, and Flea. The guys from Guns 'n Roses and Black aren't bad either.
