I can only explain this by saying that yes, in some instances, I have hurt the people I love. For example, if you are one of friends/family & you are wearing something horrible, and you ask me "Honestly, does this look good on me?", I am going to tell you truthfully, "NO!". Why?
Because
1. You asked for honesty.
2. I love you enough not to let you leave the house thinking you look like a million bucks when in reality you look like 5 bucks!
But that's just me. People who know me well realize that if you ask me something & I say "Don't ask questions you really don't want the answer to." You better be ready for the truth!
I just feel like the ones I love deserve nothing less than complete honesty from me. Even if being that blatantly honest hurts me (sometimes it does) or I really don't want to have to tell someone that ... YES! that does make your butt look huge! Would they rather hear it from me - who loves them - or from the nasty co-worker laughing behind their back?
Some people are far too sensitive to deal with my personality. I do not keep room in my life for those who are more comfortable with a lie because it saves their tender feelings! It makes me wonder, what would they lie to me about because they don't want to hurt my feelings?

I hate to admit it, but you may have a point! The reason could be cos we are closer to the ones we love than anyone else! Sometimes I have found out that I hurt someone and sure did not know it! It may be the way I looked at them or just the way I spoke! Only when provoked or very angry did I intentionaly try to hurt someone! I strongly believe that what comes around goes around! I am 47 yrs old and have learned to try to be the best person I can be! Some people, whatever their sign is, are just mean!

that is just an outlook on how most or some scorpios might be. it doesn't mean that all are like that. It is the same thing as a stereotype, like when you say people who dress in black and look punk are mean there are some mean ones and there are really nice ones.

I'm a Scorpio and i don't hurt anyone i love coz i love them too much and even if i do, I'll do it as a last resort and will feel the pain 10x more.
additionally, this can be applicable to anyone and not just a specific sign.

I would say that some Scorpios hurt the ones they love because they are jealous and insensitive people. If a person does something to them they do not forget what that person has done to them and they do not forgive them about it.

My father is a scorpio and I can say that growing up he was very cruel towards us. He ran the house like a dictatorship and used fear and threats to keep us in line. Gentle love was non existent, it was always tough love, and it felt like he didn't allow us to love him.

well im a scorpio, i guess i kinda do that to. its stupid but i think its an excuse to not let someone close to me. i never want to hurt my bf, (he's scorpio 2) but i guess we both make each other jealous and that is a form of hurting some also.

Everyone does that, not just Scorpios.
EDIT - Why would people hurt other people? Because of ignorance and self-centredness. I admit that I sometimes can be ignorant and self-centred as well, but I try to spare everyone the unnecessary heartache.

Very true .... they are competitive and must always come out on top. Having that poisonous stinger on there tails helps to sway things in their favor at times.
I have a tail .....and I'm not afraid to use it.

it depends how you define love. and as a scorpio myself, i am not the one to hurt somebody unless i truly cared about them and for their own good. and sometimes i do hurt people, but i dont mean to.
