Can I give my 1 week old mylicon drops before and after I feed her without hurting her or making her sick? If I can do I do half before and half after?

Babies...are gassy. That's normal.

Please don't go pouring unnecessary meds down her throat.

The fewer unneeded chemicals you put in your baby ...the better.

Pat her on the back and let her burp.

Let her have her giant explosive baby farts and poops.

It's not abnormal for infants to have gas and bowel movements that can be heard from across the room.

She's fine...let her be.

I wouldn't give a week old baby gas drops unless the dr said to. And NEVER before you feed her. Gas is normal in babies and medication should never be given unless it is necessary to relieve the baby from distress. That's why burping babies is so important.

If your baby is constanly crying and drawing her legs up, and her tummy is tight, then mylicon is probably a good idea. Otherwise let nature take it's course.

Why do you want to give the baby mylicon? You should try and let the baby work out its issues alone not be dependant on anything. However if the baby is fussy read up on it. This website may help. GL!!!!
PS they also make stuff called gripe water that is natural. You can find it at babies r us

as long as you do not exceed 12 doses per day, you can give them whenever you want. Personally i found it my son liked them better in his formula, it helped him burp better.. the active ingridient is simethicone, which helpes the bubbles to be passed easier. Sometimes i would give them when he got fussy, then let him suck his passy for a little while, then burp him. Worked great. Ask your doctor for other methods of relieving gas.. my son's doctor suggested we'd use regular Mylanta, and that worked also. it was also a hell of alot cheaper, and that stil has the same ingridient as the mylicons do.. Every baby and doctor is different though, so talk to him before you make any changes.

It's supposed to be safe for a 1 week old, but I would't double up or divide in half. Give her the reccomended dosage directly into her mouth right before feeding... and do it as frequently as the bottle suggests...but no more than that.

Half before and half after would be like taking 1/2 an aspirin and hten the other half later...it doesn't make it more effective.

Mylicon in safe for all age babies. I use to just put the drops in the bottle if she takes a bottle if not it wont hurt her to give it to her. I would give it to her all at once and not half and half or before and after you feed her.

my son had a lot of problems with gas so i called his Dr. She told me to give him .4ml of mylicon before his feeding. It really helped! But he was about a month...so before you give them to your 1 week old i would call her Dr.

Give it up to three times a day with feedings - all right before - not half before and half after....

Unless she shows signs of being gassy, I wouldn't give them at all. They say they are safe to use again but I don't put anything into there bodies unless it's absolutely necessary! Like milk is necessary.

I gave it to my daughter from brith on. she had a horrible time when i couldn't breast feed and had to go to formula. I believe the directions say after eating though. Luckily at 3 months my daughter rarely needs it. I had to switch to Enfamil Gentlease formula vs. reg. formula. easier for the tummy.
