Did you know about a new presidential directive, signed May 9th, gives Bush dictatorial power?

This bill was first introduced in 2005, then referred to House subcommittee. Well, on May 9th, it was signed.

The National Security and Homeland Security Presidential Directive, signed on May 9, 2007 declares that in the event of a “catastrophic event”, George W. Bush can become what is best described as "a dictator":

"The President shall lead the activities of the Federal Government for ensuring constitutional government."

This directive, completely unnoticed by the media, and given no scrutiny by Congress, literally gives the White House unprecedented dictatorial power over the government and the country, bypassing the US Congress and obliterating the separation of powers. The directive also placed the Secretary of Homeland Security in charge of domestic “security”.

This is another step towards official martial law which suggests that a new "catastrophic event" 9/11-type pretext could be in the pipeline.

This directive is a clear violation of constitutional separation of powers and there should be angry protests from our legislators about this anti-American garbage that came from the President.

A working constitutional government contains a separation of powers between three equally powerful branches and this directive states that the executive branch has the power to coordinate the activities of the other branches.

So I gues Orwell had it right in his book 1984. All he spoke of is coming to fruition. New World Order begins people! Let Bush tell it "war is peace." Ahh, the good ole double-talk:)

@Jose - Yes there will be another staged terrorist attack soon so its good to just have our eyes open. But unlike a lot of people who choose to live in denial about whats going on, when it happens, it won't be a surprise to me.

For the record, Repubicans and Democrats are two sides of the same coin. Both have members in Skull and Bones are have as a top priority, their own interests,not the interests of the America people.

It amazes me how people will defend these labels/parties til the end, no matter what wrong they do, who they hurt or kill. I guess its just easier to ignore the facts than face the realization that we all are in trouble in this country. God Bless us all!

@chocolahoma-well actually, if Clinton pulled some crap like this, I would have had something to say about it. Unlike a lot of people, my allegiance isn't to any party, or person, its to being an American and wanting our civil liberties to stay intact. None of these people are God, they have flaws and when they screw up, we have a right to know about it, after all, it is OUR LIVES they are supposed to be watching out for,no?

Sorry, I don't trust any of them much. So you can compare and contrast D and R all day, again I say, two sides of same coin. We are left with choosing the lesser of two evils.

There is one big problem with your information. It may be accurate and your concern maybe valid. However, people are already too disillusioned and apathetic at this point. We here in America get upset and passionate about things that don't matter like an earlier repondent quoted. Most of us are so turned off by our governments at this point in our history that our politicians are getting away with many atrocities. We know of the corruption and outright deception from many branches of government. It doesn't even matter which particular political party or idealogy it stems from neither. People feel helpless, powerless, and overall unable to even make a dent in the problem. Most Americans don't even know who their congressmen are and have no clue as to how our political process even works.

The phrase: The devil is in the details.

We get motivated by good oratory and pay no attention to substance. Political candidates don't even take stands on issues and speak in generalities. I appreciate the heads up however, but we need to address the bigger problem.

Somehow, we have to wake the sleepwalkers and the disinterested up. I don't know. Any ideas would be helpful.

Did you Read the document, or just the paranoid rant About the document?

First. It is clearly labelled as a "policy" document. That's simply a declaration of the administration's plans to handle any potential catastrophe, terrrorist attack, or other big emergency. Itis NOT a "directive" (whatever that would mean) or a presidential executive order of any kind.

Second, One of the earliest paragraphs states that its intention is to keep ALL branches of government operating as usual in the event of such an emergency.

I am citing that text here...

"'Enduring Constitutional Government,' or 'ECG,' means a cooperative effort among the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of the Federal Government, coordinated by the President, as a matter of comity with respect to the legislative and judicial branches and with proper respect for the constitutional separation of powers among the branches, to preserve the constitutional framework under which the Nation is governed and the capability of all three branches of government to execute constitutional responsibilities and provide for orderly succession, appropriate transition of leadership, and interoperability and support of the National Essential Functions during a catastrophic emergency;"

Bill Clinton could have wrote this and not one eyebrow would have been raised...

Yes, I did already know about this, and you are right, it is some scary stuff. Too many people simply don't realize or cannot accept what these people are capable of! There has been a great deal of speculation regarding what may or may not happen. What happens or does not happen depends entirely upon what suits the agenda of those among the truly highest levels of the Illuminati! So, what Bush and Company wants to bring about, may be nipped in the bud...so to speak. My friend has speculated that those on the highest levels may not want to kill the golden goose, so to speak, and those on the highest levels are far smarter than those on the Bush and Company level. So, I guess we just have to wait and see, and hope for the best, while being prepared for the worst. *sm*

It's not legal. The president can't issue a directive that circumvents the other two branches. (Well, Bush/Cheney issued it, but it's not legal.) Contact your congresspeople. Bush wouldn't even let Congress see the classified portion. I haven't heard anything about Obama in this matter. Congress needs to exert a little authority here.

The paper you cite has been issued by numerous presidents in the nuclear age, because it outlines the precise nature of how government is going to continue to function in the event of a major catastrophic event (natural or man-made) where normal government function is interrupted.

To actually believe that it will be used to create a dictatorship requires suspending logic and rational thought.
