I went to the doctor recently to get it because, I heard that it helps in weight gaining.. how true is that?
I'm very skinny and wish to gain alot more weight by next month.

Using depo to gain weight is a BAD IDEA.
There are so many negative side affects its not funny. I would never ever recommend this shot to anyone.
Weight gain
loss of libido
Horrible mood swings
spotting at odd times
bone density problems
fertility issues in some women
etc etc...

And google "depo provera lawsuit" and "depo provera reviews" (make sure to look at non biased depo review sites, i.e. NOT the depo provera site!).
I was on it for four years and I am so glad I got off the shot.
Find another way to gain weight. Talk to your doctor about it.
How old are you btw? How much do you weigh? How tall are you?
Though people will say "not all women have the same issues" so many women have had issues that I am shocked they haven't removed this from being administered. Only a few women don't have any bad side affects.
I can only hope for you, if you take this, that you do not have any horrible side affects like many of us do.

Weigh gain is a side effect, but there have been cases where women either lose weight or dont see a difference. I've been on Depo for a while and I havent gained a pound. I also exercise, so that could be it. Other side effects are depression, nasuea, loss of bone density, and headaches.

I liked the Depo shot cause i didn't have to worry about having a period, it didn't really make me gain weight, I still got moody around "that time of the month" even though I didn't have a period. What I didn't like was after I got off the shot, I didn't have a period for almost a year, that kinda worried me, but the dr. said everything was fine. everything works like its supposed to now.

the only thing i have noticed is less interest in sex. other than that i LOVE this shot and i highly reccomend it.
