Birds like that do NOT survive in the wild. If you don't want your bird anymore, give it to a shelter or even drop it off at a pet store and they will find it a new owner. That's all the scolding I'm going to give you for now. For other ways to get the bird back, go to http://www.cockatootrainer.com/escaped/
Please, if you don't want the bird, give it to a shelter!

Please take a walk outside your house and your neighboring yards, a parakeet with clipped wings didn't get far, but could have been eaten by a cat or a snake in the night. Look for feathers. Look in bushes, under house or deck. Put up signs just near your house to call if they found the bird. If someone did find it, give them the cage and toys so it will go to a new home.
Also, tell your mom, she will help and will need to tell the person who gave her the bird trusting it would go to a good home. If you find the bird, try to find it a new home ask the vets office to put up a sign or preschools and classrooms are often excited to have a bird donated and will take good care of it. Don't let it outside, it is not wild and depends on you for both food and water.
I'm sorry you feel bad, you know you made a big mistake. Do everything you can to look for the bird and find out what happened to it and this will help you feel a little less guilty so will being very honest with your family about it and admitting to them you made a mistake.

Search for her. If here wings were clipped she could not have gotten far. If nothing got her chances are good is is right around the area you let her go.
I lost my parakeet (wings Unclipped) in the middle of winter (10 degrees outside) when I was moving and the bottom of the cage broke and he flew away towards the end of the block. I had him four about four years and felt terrible. I looked for nearly three hours in the dark and finally gave up. About an hour later my dog found him outside still ALIVE.
Did she have a toy that had a bell or made any type of noise. If so go outside and rattle it. It might sound stupid but it work to get my bird back. She may hear it and come back. Anything is worth a try. Good Luck

Birds are extremely intelligent and social beings. They depend on you as their flock member. You basically doomed the bird, whether it could fly or not because it can't find food for itself and it is easy prey to the many domestic cats that prowl around, not to mention to other large birds.
However, the thing I've learned about regret is that you almost never can take it back. This sort of pain is meant to be a compass for right and wrong. You can punish yourself for a long time, or you can think about what you have learned from this and take steps next time to prevent similar action. What could you have done? Taken it to the humane society. Find another home for it yourself. Research on the internet on bird behavior and learn how to bond with your bird better. A hundred things you could have done better that you didn't think about before. You seem like a basically good person who made a poor choice. A good person will feel regret and learn from it. You know what to do and not to do next time. It's sad, I feel sorry for the bird and the regret you're feeling. The regret will fade down eventually, but will always be there just a little when you think about it. It's supposed to, but try not to let it control you and try to turn it into something positive. Life's lessons are never easily learned, kiddo, so pick yourself up and do better next time. Put the brain into it that was given to you and don't take the easiest way out of problems in life.

That was a ridiculously stupid move. A parakeet is a domestic bird and could never survive in the wild. Especially with clipped wings!! Didn't you do any research on parakeets? Responsible pet ownership requires knowledge of your specific pet's care and behavior. Your ignorance probably killed that poor creature. I only hope he was dispatched quickly and did not have to suffer. My other hope is that you never own another pet until you can responsibly care for it. If I were you I would assuage my guilt by doing something charitable for a bird related charity. There are several parrot sanctuaries and wild bird rehabilitators out there that could use your time and money. Lesson learned.

not much you can do. unfortunately she probably wont come back and she also wont probably survive too long since she does not have the skills to find food or water (sorry)
in the meantime - ask your neighbors if they have seen her. go around calling her and see if you can spot her - if her wings are clipped she may not be getting too far
you made a mistake and now you just have to live with the consequences - i'm sorry - that doesn't come out any better
you must grieve her being gone, learn from what happened here, forgive yourself, and move on

unfortunately a bird that has been bred in captivity will not survive once released. they will either starve to death or become food. unless you can get her to come back in the next twelve hours or someone finds her, her chances are not good.

hope and pray she isn't killed seh problably won't know how to get food and the color will attract birds of prey to her as it will be hard for her to be camaflaged.
Very unlikely she will return.
hopefully she will not die a very long painful death a many domestic birds do.

More then likely in wanting to set it free, you gave it more harm then good. Your going to have to get over it. Learn your lesson.

you should hope that she finds a new home, because with her wings clipped she doesnt' have much of a chance against things that will eat her. and if she does come home, please find her someone who will love her and not put her in this situation again.
