Have you already chipped it for more power?
The 220 SDi is already pretty quick (103bhp, 155lb ft), but there are chips available for about 130bhp.
Try http://www.superchips.co.uk/models.php
A good chip will match fuelling to increased boost pressure for maximum advantage while maintaining smooth running.

There are two ways. One with a in line pressure valve which you can adjust only when the car is stopped. Secondly you can buy a electronic boost controller. This does almost the same as the inline valve except it is electronic so it can be changed from inside the car as you drive and also it has automatic modes which changes the boost pressure depending on engine conditions. Check the rover 200 online forum and they will tell you whats for the best.

put a bleed valve into the waste gate line - it lies to the waste gate telling it to stay closed longer therefore increasing the boost pressure

Block the waste gate and put some money aside for a new head gasket (if you're luck. A new engine if you're not).
