I gave birth 4 months ago. Today, all of sudden I'm feeling all this pain - like menstrual cramps or early labor - but no period and I'm not pregnant. It's excruciating. Any ideas?

Gallbladder attack! They are more common after childbirth and they feel just like labor. Go to your doctor and get ex-rayed. This happened to me 3 weeks after I had a baby. I ended up with emergency surgery. If the pain is excruciating then it's time to go.

Afterbirth is delivered immediately after the baby...not 4 months later. I have four children and my mom has been a labor and delivery nurse for over 18 years. Trust me.

It might also be your period trying to come back. What I noticed was my period was much worse after I gave birth. I had more cramps, and it was much heaver then it was before.

You period may not start this month...it just might be getting ready to start in the next few months.

You could have an ovarian cyst. You should really go see your doctor. If the pain quits in a couple of hours, that's probably what it was. My daughter has them every month if she doesn't stay on birth control.

According to my doctor you can have pains like that for awhile since your body is trying to get rid of the after birth and stuff left over.
4 months seems like a long time though, so I would call your doctor and ask them.

You should go see your doctor, the symptoms you feel are very common after you give birth like about 2 months after you have your baby, but 4 months it's kind of a long time.
Good Luck!

Make an appointment with your gynecologist and have it checked out. It might be an ovarian cyst. I had that and it was painful. I had the cyst while I was pregnant last year.

With it being 4 months, there could be a problem with your uterus. Call your doctor ASAP.
