What is the process by which gas stations "know" to raise or lower the price of gas on a daily basis?

Just curious if they get a phone call everyday from coorperate or what...

Oil companies will publish the current wholesale market price for gasoline to dealers daily, probably done today via email or some other electronic format. That wholesale market price, plus the numerous taxes and small profit % added, equals the retail price of the gasoline.
