Use a debit card in an ATM, and get it straight from your bank account.
The card should have a cirrus logo or a MasterCard or Visa logo.
Check with your bank that the fees are low, if they charge more than about 0.25 euro per time you get money out of the wall, you should look for a different bank or at least a different card.

Using a credit card for bigger payments is ok, and take it for emergencies too, but mostly the credit card companies charge a high fee for getting cash.

If you bring cash (always a little for emergencies which you should not change unless needed,) you can change it at nearly any bank.
Those in Euro area will all change the better known currencies, many also the less used ones, but mostly just bigger banknotes.

If you want to change a little, say less than 20 Euro worth, a 'shop like' money changing office that does not charge a handling fee is better, if you change more (say more than 50 Euro,) a bank office is best.
Try to get some Euros before coming, but all airports and most ferries have changing facilities and ATM's.

always use the ATM. it offers the best exchange rate. if you have Bank of America account, they don't charge you service fee if you use Barclay's or Bank of Parisba ATMs (i think they're sister banks). this is true as of couple yrs ago, so you might need to double check. but overall, ATM is the best bet.
