1. There is absolutely no connection between liberalism and whether or not you are ashamed of your nationality.

2. How can stating your nationality possibly be considered racism?

Maybe I'm wrong, but this question sounds like BNP propaganda to me.

Edit: Yes - I thought so. I just read some of Jill B's other questions and answers. This question is BNP propaganda. People shouldn't even give these Crypto-Fascist idiots the time of day. Questions like this are designed to stir up hatred of everyone who doesn't conform to the BNP's twisted view of normality.

Well, some on here say it will never be racist to call yourself English, but I am not so sure. The way things are going it may well come to that, and it will be our own fault. Some of the answers allude to the BNP. You do not have to be in the BNP to be patriotic and despair at the liberal mindset of brainwashed' European citizens'. I am certainly not one of those , neither do I support the BNP, but I am English and proud of it.

No, i think of u.s., mutually as not perfect, is the basically right usa on the face of the planet. i'm able to declare, besides the indisputable fact that, which you're truthfully ashamed of a minimum of 50% of u.s. because of the fact which you so detest people who you label "liberals", even however you don't understand something approximately what they suspect. i admire my usa and attempt to work out it for what that's, so as that i'm able to help strengthen it. You unfairly label a million/2 the inhabitants "evil" and attempt to pit your fellow countrymen against one yet another. Who has the main obtrusive shame between the two one persons? BTW, Michelle's opinion is Michelle's, and has not something to do with the rest persons. Why do you connect any importance to it with regard on your sought after scapegoats, the "liberals"?

Don't be so melodramatic. Nobody has any problem with anybody calling themselves English or British - with the possible exception of some right-wing idiots who object to people of non-white ethnic origin describing themselves in that way.

And there's the rub. The only real problem with English and/or British nationalism is that is has been hi-jacked by right-wing racists. If you spout nationalism from a racist point of view, then you undermine the very cause you champion.

Perhaps English nationalists could try taking a leaf out of the Scottish Nationalists' book. They too were once tainted by right-wing, narrow-minded nonsense but successfully purged themselves of it and are now a respected, progressive, democratic party of government.

How can it be racist to call yourself English?

This is typical of the warped shite that BNP supporters like Jill come out with.

It seems only the fascists are ashamed of their race - the rest of us are proud to be English, Scottish, Welsh, Irish, whatever.

No, but if the Scottish, Welsh or Irish call you "English," they may be harboring ancient grudges. But then, nobody is still alive who fought William Wallace or Owen Glendower, so it's not like current Scots or Welsh are severely oppressed. As for the Irish-English conflict, well, that's a subject I'll leave to those more expert in the field.

Look, the English (and the British as a whole) have done some rotten things. They've also done some great things. You guys founded my country, and then you messed it up and we had to take it for ourselves, and then you came back and messed it up again, and we fought you off, and then both sides settled down for a few decades and realized we're better off as partners than as adversaries, and it's worked pretty well. Not in Iraq, but then, nobody, not even Tony Blair, is perfect.

After all, if it wasn't for both our countries in 1944, Nicholas Sarkozy would be speaking German now. Then again, if it wasn't for France in 1778, George W. Bush would be speaking English now!

What a thoroughly silly question. Stop being so up yourself. No matter what country we were born in, our forebears came from all over the place so it actually does not matter a jot, a tittle or an iota. Call yourself what you want.
BTW racism is a polital term used to indicate the oppression of a race of people by another race. So saying you're English is scarcely racist, just nationalist, another thing altogether and quite quite pointless.

I think it's a joke the way this country of mine is acting.
I am all for the George Flag, its the flag of england not the BNP.
We should be proud of our heritage, I think it is disgusting that some (and note only some) people come into our country claiming asylum or just plain moving here, dont make any effort to learn our language, set up schools where no english istaught, it is things like this that breed hate to certain cultures.
I am all for people doing their thing relgious wise, but when you make the choice and these people ahve made the choice to come to this country they should make the effort to integrate.
I know someone clever will mention the brits in Spain, but to be fair its different, I agree its rude not to learn the lingo, but for certain cultural groups when moving into England you should make the effort, its bizarre walking in some areas of Londonf ro instance and you may as well be walking through a time zone from the bible times, its crackers!
I am not racist but no doubht i will get some thumbs down,
Its about time the government stopped thinking about everyone else and started including in English people as well. They dont help at all, they make us out to all be hooded racists

Fourthy 27 - you know it!!!! LOL

Liberal pc idiots are pathetic, simple as that. Any fool can hide behind a computer. This reference to the bnp is also boring, just because we ain't gay liberals doesn't mean we vote the bnp, twats.

I'm not British, I'm English. And if I'm the only one left on the island who calls himself that, well so be it. It's about time we pissed the porridge wog leaders back off to Scotland and send the poor illegals home

well I'm not, and have no plans of being anything else other than English first, British second, and if anyone doesn't like it give me a call and I'll tell them what i think of them, lets face it I've committed a few violations during my period on here, and no doubt will cause a few more, maybe this is a violation in our present climate. After all we do live in a free country and are able to say what we think, don't we ?
