I live in an apartment Texas A ramp was put in coming off my porch but not one to parking lot .thier is only one ramp in intire complex except one appartment has a ramp from front door to parking lot.I feel bad having to ask but i would like to get out once in awhile with my power wheel chair.

Unless they accept subsidies, they do not have to put in a ramp. However, you should indeed ask about it. This is especially true if you were lead to believe there were proper accommodations when you moved in.

It never hurts to politely ask. The worst they can say is no. The apartment complex would be wise to ramp all their sidewalks. It would avoid law suits if someone gets hurt stepping off the curb.

Be nice to your landlord. Some people get upset when they don't get their way and that is not very diplomatic. If I were you I would consider carefully the presentation of your case. You will go a lot further, too, if you are a good tenant already. If the managers are not the ones to talk to, find out who the owners are and speak with them directly.

Federal law says that you HAVE to make your location wheelchair accessible.
