Or you think that the it's possible that Terrorists are still plotting and being patient?

Nobody with any sense ever believed that the Iraq War had anything to do with stopping terrorists. Saddam was in a tight box that could have been made a lot tighter. In or out of Iraq would have made no difference either way as far as dealing with a relativly small commando of muslim terrorists. Anyone with any sense at all now knows that George Bush was never on top of this situation, but rather has always been a frontman for the Oil Mafia. Evidently they believed that Iraq was easy pickings...if we only knew what went on in Cheney's secret meetings with the oil establishments dons just before the war started. Someday we will and at that point we can only hope that Cheney and Bush are brought up on charges. Sixteen more months of these freaks...after that they can't stonewall anymore...we'll begin to see how badly we've been screwed by these bums.

The War in Iraq (and Afghanistan) is certainly diverting some resources and just plain attention away from operations outside that country, including America. It's not stopping terrorists from entering the country, plotting, and making attempts - it's just that so far, those attempts have been failing. That some zealots are attracted to the conflict in Iraq, which they presumbably view as 'defensive' when they might otherwise have chosen more 'offensive' operations is at least plausible, but there's no way to be certain.

What should be obvious is that another victory over the US - which is looking more likely given the political momentum of the American anti-war movement - will strengthen and embolden organizations, like Al Qaeda, that will try to take creadit for it.

I suspect the war in Iraq is simply motivating many more people to hate the US.

The biggest deterrent factor against terrorism is that 9/11 made people aware of the possibility of terrorism. So now if someone walks in and asks to take flying lessons and says they don't need to know how to takeoff or land they are more likely to be reported. And airplanes no longer have cabin doors that almost anyone can kick in. And (I hope) when people trip metal detectors at airports the security people actually identify the metal objects before they send the person on their way. And if an unidentifed briefcase shows up on a busy street people report it and it is investigated.

the war in Iraq is only increasing the possibility of more terrorist in the United States. Do you not think that people who held no ill will towards the United States before G.W. invaded Iraq now feel different after family members and friends have been killed because of the invasion. I am sure there are factions plotting and waiting patiently in The U.S.. There was an eight year period between towers attack 1 and 2.

I find it difficult to believe that the war in Iraq is stopping terrorism in the U.S. It only took 19 people to pull off 911. I believe when these creeps hit the U.S. again, they want it to be spectacular and extremely deadly so will take their time to plan just like they have in the past. Also, historically, they wait until after new leadership is in office. Think about the pattern so far: 1993, not long after Clinton took office, 2001, not long after Bush took office, and right after Brown took office in England. Nobody knows for sure.

Thanks for my laugh of the day...stopping terrorists by war on a country that didn't have them when we started the war on the country.
Saddam would never allowed a rival group to him to exist.
If a terrorist wanted to get into our country all he'd have to do is walk across the border with the rest of the illegals, and all our fancy, time consuming, just-for-show guards in airports won't even get to check their neat lists.
If not one group of terrorists than another. Home grown, or Al Qaida, they will attack again sooner or later.

It's a Bush myth..any expert on Iraq will tell you al-qaida was not in Iraq before the war...isn't it foolish to think that all the terrorist in the world are now fighting in Iraq ?
The fact is our involvement in Iraq has has giving al-qaida
an increase in recruits !

No and yes.

I love how people think that a country comprised of a US occupying force, Iraqi-Sunni militias, Iraqi-Shiite militias, Kurdish-militias, Al-Qaeda insurgents, Taliban forces, Shiites from Iran, is somehow going to coalesce into some giant terrorist nation. People we killled that country, blew it up real-good. They are going to be fighting each other for control for the next hundred years.

The short answer is Yes. The war was not begun for the purpose of doing so, but if the US withdraws and the Iraqi government cannot control the country, Taliban and al Qaeda are ready to set up shop there to wage more mischief against the US and other countries.

It's not a 100% guaranteed solution, but denying them a base in Iraq is a worthwhile goal because it weakens our sworn enemy.
