We are focused on a quick buck and major companies in this nation are making huge profits that look good on paper till you notice the 9 trillion dollar debt . Thats $30,000.00 per person .
The interest on that debt is $1500.00 that must be paid .
So the Average person earns $35,000.00 a year-- after deductions and credits when all is said and done pays around $2,500.00 in taxes Leaving just $1000.00 to pay for every service we have .
170 million active workers paying just $1000.00 in taxes does not add up does it .
So the 2.8 trillion dollar budget that we spend must be covered some how . Hidden taxes rolled into the cost of products and services .
The total amount needed by workers is $!6,000.00 So a two income family on average pays $32,000.00 in actual taxes to run the government . Leaving them with little to save from .
Do you see something wrong with how american workers are taxed here and the actual costs of running this nation .
It makes no sense at all to me that we can not and should not have a completely balanced budget no matter what .
We need to face some hard truths or we will be covering our expenses the old fashioned way . War , looting the resources of other nations to continue our own .
Is this what we want in America .

As of March 07 $175 million was spent on Katrina aid.
We are spending an estimated $10 Billion a month on Iraq, and another $2 Billion a month in Afghanistan.
And Bin Ladin is still free,
and the population of New Orleans is down to less than half of what it was before the levees broke.
Dear Conservatives, please be aware that when the entire city is destroyed courtesy of levees built on the cheap by the federal government, when all structure, roads, government offices and water treatment plans are gone because it was determined that it was not cost effective to build the levees to withstand more than a cat 3 hurricane, the government bears responsibility. Long ago we rebuilt Europe with the Marshall Plan, now we can't rebuild one single city with the Bush Plan.

How are the tax EXTENSIONS costing anything? It is a continuance of the existing tax schedule, the 700 billion you people keep referring to is non existent. The money was never there and is not being given away. I learned in elementary school that when you subtract 0 from 0 you still have 0. Do they teach math differently now days? Now Bush caused Katrina, the man was a lot more powerful than I gave him credit for.

Much money was spent after Katrina and still is. Even those that should not have received government monies did. Maybe the local mayor and governor need to be held accountable. That being said, one has nothing to do with the other.

You make a valid point in Iraq, but why should we rebuild a city that is BELOW SEA LEVEL, and if the environmental nuts are right, then there will be more hurricanes from global warming which will bury this hole of a city at the bottom of the sea where it belongs.

I agree. Our people here should be first partakers of our wealth. BUT it just goes to show you that you should not depend on the government to take care of you. Yes, your very own government will fail you.

The Louisiana state govt should have handled the disaster. FEMA has never been equipped to personally deal with emergency situations, just manage them.

I wasn't aware that the major problem in New Orleans was an unelected dictator who oppressed his people, stole their incomes, and attacked his neighbors.
I'll have to alert the media to this right away -- thanks for the tip!!
