People want to see an end to the war, and it will come, sooner or later. But the Democrats know that if they start impeachment proceedings it will just be seen as petty politics. Sure, the left wing of the Democratic party would approve, but moderates and Republicans would not, and it would swing more support to the Republicans in the upcoming elections. Besides, impeachment is a slow and painful process. Long before it reached any conclusion, Bush would be out of office. The Democratic leadership is wise to let the electoral process take its course.

in the longer run, they'd all be voted out of office.
polls clearly show, still, that the majority of Americans do not want to cut and run from Iraq. That majority would become majorities in the polls and your flunkies would be out.
not to mention, of course, that the Constitution clearly places the President in charge of foreign relations, not the House of Representatives.
tediously, the Constitution also requires valid grounds for impeaching a President. Disliking the way his is doing his job, or the outcome he is getting while doing it, aren't valid grounds and most of Congress knows this.
Personally, i'm rather pleased we have a Constitution to regulate such political matters. Can you imagine the chaos that might erupt if the government kowtowed to every popular rally that came along?
we'd have the anti-war crowd on Mondays and the pro-war crowd on Thursday. So what would the government do?
Run from Iraq on Tuesday and re-invade on Friday?
:-) hehe

Their ratings would improve if they left office. I've never seen a more useless bunch of morons in my life.
