It is the orbital motion that keeps the Earth from falling into the Sun. If the Earth were magically stopped still in space and then let go, it would fall into the Sun.

Well, gravity keeps the Earth in it's orbit, so I'm assuming you mean one of two physically impossible cases - either the Sun suddenly dissapears or the Earth stops where it is.

If the Earth just stopped in it's tracks, we'd stop having seasons - we'd just stay in whatever season we were currently having. If the Earth kept revolving, we should be fine. If it stops revolving, one side of the Earth will get very hot and the other will get very cold. That's a worse case than just not orbiting anymore.

If the Sun were suddenly just gone, the Earth would head off in a straight line in whatever direction it was going in the orbit because of inertia. We'd be in big trouble without sunlight.

Because of centripital force, we orbit around the sun. Therefore, with nothing to help Earth orbit, it would just continue in a straight line until it hits something. Gotta love intertia.

The earth will immediately start falling into the sun and would arrive within about 2 months. Of course we'll all be dead far b4 that. All humans would probably die within the 3 weeks maybe faster.

Well, eventually, the sun will run out of fuel, and swell up, engulfing the Earth... We'll fall into the sun & become part of it's core.
