European teams have had football culture since eve and definetly form part of their lives, how come the US with no football culture become a football giant, yeah the US has a big population bigger than the european and many US teens play it but even less European teens play it and they are even beter than the Amercan bothers. US soccer has promised and dreamed that they will reach a good football level, wat makes u think i will happe nnow, if it hasnt happened with the arrival of Pele to the MLS.

I think the US will be as good as countries like Spain, England, Italy, France, Portugal and the other football superpowers of Europe, someday. I think we are moving in the right direction and if we continue to do that and improve like we have been, then someday we will become as good as them. It's just going to take time.

When Pele arrived and started playing in the US, the sport wasn't as popular then as it is now and we also didn't have a national team that was good enough to even qualify for the World Cup. The investors and people running the old NASL ruined the league. It's too bad that happened. If there was an interest in football and we were also as good at it in the US back then like now, I think it would have been different. Things are much different today then they were back then. We take the sport much more seriously now than we did when Pele was playing in the old NASL.

If Americans are patient enough, I think there's a good chance the USA will be a top 10 national team. The USA has a big population and lots of resources. The country can develop "athletes", look at its basketball and girdiron football players.

It's about patience, improving training, and keeping interest high in the sport. The best way to get these goals accomplished is through MLS. If MLS improves technically and financially, US football will thrive eventually.

If Americans don't have the patience to see second-tier MLS football, then it won't thrive. Youngsters will lose interest to other sports. I guess that's why everyone's looking for the Next Big Thing to keep our interest high. It looked like Freddy Adu a few years ago, but he hasn't developed as much as everyone would like. Luckily MLS' popularity has grown without a breakout American superstar.

This is a rather confused question but the short answer to why the US has not become a football (soccer) giant is that there is not enough support for the game. Many explanations have been given for this lack of support including a scoring system that gives low scores and the existence of major competition such as American Football.

Maybe they could be ignorant as to whats going on outside of the U.S. but my guess is because African Americans are still not totally treated as equals. Although we are very very close still we are not 100% equally treated. From other races view it may look that way but when your black you can see that your not treated as an equal all the time. Sometimes things that a caucasian does may be overlooked but when an African American does something they may not get off the hook as easily and im speaking from experience. In order for African American men and women to get ahead in life they have to work twice as hard and have to be twice as good to be really noticed. Obama for instance had to work very hard to get to where he is now, if he was on Bush's level America wouldnt have even looked twice at electing Obama as president he wouldnt have made it as far as he has.

Im still wondering why non US supporters are even concerned about this to begin with. How does this affect you? Did you come here to stir #$%& up or do you have a legitimate fear that one day US soccer may indeed be a threat to your international soccer security?

Of all the counties you name, England and France won the world cup only once. Spain and Portugal, never did.
