,They are 2 seperate companies, the Bank of Scotland and,the Royal Bank of Scotland which is wholly Scottish owned and run with head offices in Edinborough, and I read that it is either the 5th or 7th largest bank in the world.previous info above is also correct concerning the Halifax and The Nat West Banks The ROYAL also has branches throughout most major countries in the world including USA.& CANADA...The Bank Of Scotland is not as big as the Royal the other bank is the Clydesdale Bank which is controlled by an Australian banking company

2 different companies ... but between them they probably own the rest of the UK banking institutions ie : Royal Bank - owns Nat West .. .Bank of Scotland (hbos) - own the Halifax..(not the other way round). to name but a few... you would think being Scottish and owning all these companies they would give the Scottish customers to coin a phrase a little extra help ... do they feck..
