3 MEN GO INTO A MOTEL. THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK SAID THE ROOM IS $30, SO
EACH MAN PAID $10 AND WENT TO THE ROOM.
A WHILE LATER THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK REALIZED THE ROOM WAS ONLY $25, SO
HE SENT THE BELLBOY TO THE 3 GUYS' ROOM WITH $5.
ON THE WAY, THE BELLBOY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO SPLIT $5 EVENLY
BETWEEN 3 MEN, SO HE GAVE EACH MAN A $1 AND KEPT THE OTHER $2 FOR
HIMSELF.
THIS MEANT THAT THE 3 MEN EACH PAID $9 FOR THE ROOM, WHICH IS A TOTAL OF
$27, ADD THE $2 THAT THE BELLBOY KEPT = $29.
WHERE IS THE OTHER DOLLAR?

Please be sure to remember that 3 times 9 is 27 plus 2 is 29. So where is the other dollar?

The question is the trick or error. Proper accounting shows that the men paid $27(3*9), $25 to the Hotel and $2 to the BellBoy. What if they paid $100 and got $75 in change and gave $2 to the Bell Boy, should $27+$2 equal $100. No. Again the question is where the error lies.

25$ for the room 25-3=2. 3 dollars given 2 the 3 men each, 2$ kept by the bellboy 25+3+2=30

Each man paid $9 for a total of $27 which equals the $25 for the room and the $2 for the bellboy.

It's this wording that throws you off. It says 9x3=27 then "ADD" $2 for $29. You wouldn't add the 2 you would subtract it. The men paid $27 for a $25 room, so $2 left over in the bellboys pocket.

The manager kept $25. The bellboy kept $2. The men got $3. 25+2+3=30.

The three men paid $30. $25 stayed in the register and $5 went back to the men. $3 went to the men ($1 each) and $2 went to the bellboy, so $25 + $3 + $2 = $30.

if each man paid 9= 27 and now they paid2 dollars extera because they couldnt share 2 dollars between 3 persons so they gave this to bellboy= 27-2=25

It's a classic case of misdirection.
The problem is not that $27 + $2 = $29. The problem is $27 - $2 = $25, the total amount paid for the room.

your logic does not add up, its not a big mistake, each guy paid $9, $27 total, this is where you messed up, the guys didn't pay the full $30 dollars as they received some of it back, instead, $2 of the $27 went to the bell boy, meaning 27 - 2 = 25 left over to pay for the room
you almost had it but your logic steps were just a bit off, basically what the first guy said but from a better approach as the first guy only proved that the dollar wasn't lost
the first guy didn't show where the extra dollar went only said it wasn't gone, as for the second person, they merely showed numbers without explainning it like i did

the hotel kept only 25 dollars
dont add what the bellboy kept, subtract it
27 less the 2 that the bellboy kept = $25
