I walked in my 13y/o daughter's room, and we are both embarassed that.. she was naked. After a while I couldn't help but wonder, what's this new thing that teenage girls leave absolutely no hair in their private area? She looked like the day she was born!
Someone pls care to explain?

As one of the average few who have been shaving our pits and pubes for many years, you shaved to try out how it would feel down there. Now, let the hair grow back, you'll get the little bumps, it'll probably itch, maybe irritate some. Then, decide if that is what you wish to continue doing. Self-condidence is a big help too. Never mind the "gay" B.S. from others just because they're afraid to try something new. Good luck.

You are not a perv. It is a legitimate question. Why can't we love our body the way mother nature intended it to be?
But, to answer your question, I have some theory.
1. Less odor, don't have as much hair to trap odor.
2. Cosmetic reasons.
Culturally, The American society has advertised hair on a female as a bad thing. If you go back in the 50s or 60s or 70s, etc. you don't see anyone shaving.
Look at other women in other countries, most don't shave. Most of them see the American society shaving as odd.

Have you considered that maybe she just hasn't developed pubic hair yet? If you know that she is shaving, why don't you just ask her? You shouldn't have walked in on her, of course, but you both survived the experience, I'm sure, and now that you've had that rare privilege of actually knowing what your teen daughter looks like naked, there's nothing wrong with asking her out of curiosity what prompted her to shave her pubes, if nothing else by way of letting her know that you're always available to talk about anything.

Well its becoming normal. I never shaved my private area, but I guess its because we feel as though its something " in" and quite frankly some girls just dont like hair down there. You know, when we go to pools or the beach, we dont want hair on the outside of our two piece or onepiece because its very uncomfortable.So if you are uncomfortable with this, I think you should talk to her mother and then go from there. Well, society has this new idea that shaving the privates keeps it cleaner.
Women used to not shave their legs or underarms until someone decided that hair was gross.
Anyway, I do believe that it's weird to shave the private area. Especially for someone as young as your daughter! I keep mine trimmed, but not for beauty; I do it for comfort.
The truth of the matter is that humans have hair there for a reason. The reason is that it keeps external bacteria and foreign matters away from the inner parts of the vagina. You have to remember that females pretty much have an opening to their insides down there! The hair should be there.
I think another reason that many girls think it's better shaven is because of the smell. What they don't realize is that if they clean themselves well enough on a daily basis, there shouldn't be a smell, except for a slight odor during "that time of the month".
Oh, and also, many girls do it because they think guys like it. With the new obsession over oral sex, guys are beginning to like their woman's pubic area to be shaven.
A male friend of mine pointed out something I hadn't thought before. Here's his exact words: "I don't like a girl that is shaven because it makes me feel like I'm doing things with a little kid! Can you say, GROSS?!?!?!?!"

Doors are meant to be knocked on. Also all women that I have dated, (and yes they were all over 18) , were shaved. So it's probably just wanting to be like older women. Most pornstars are shaved too and you can see porn anywhere now so she has probably seen that and thinks that's the way it should be. Either way I hope she's taking sex-ed or you gonna be a grandpa soon, nobody grooms something that they don't expect someone else to possibly be looking at.

Many girls feel more comfortable shaving. In society today, most girls shave "down there". Hair can be itchy and it is also difficult to wear a bathing suit if she has hair. There are no health risks to shaving, but she should be careful not to cut herself because those nicks can become infected. It is also recommended that she use a new razor every time she shaves.

It's summer and with the bathing suits children are wearing today, it's no wonder that the gals "blessed" with lots of body hair want to shave. I'm guessing it's only something she'll do in the summer... @ least for a few years.

She probably just doen't have any yet. But anyway, she's a little old now for you to be just walking into her room and all. I'm 26 and my dad sometimes does it, but it's when I'm sleeping and he's checking to see if I'm home. If you hear movement in there, freaking KNOCK!!!
Also, is this the same girl who still wets the bed?

It's a trickle-down thing from older women's fashion. Lots of adult women wax or shave their pubes, maybe she heard about that and wanted to see what it's like. Adolescents do experiment like that.
