I don't like modern country music. The older country, mostly around the fifties and sixties were amazing. I don't know, it's all just personal prefrence the songs were better, there was more heart in it, and it just sounds better than what country artists are putting out today. It's just lost some of what it's had. It's too much like pop, fake almost, I don't think that's the right word, but I'm at a loss for better ones at the moment.

I'd rather listen to country than a bunch of criminals "singing" about how much pot they smoked, how much drugs they shot up their arm, how many women they slept with, and how many positions, how many people they killed in a drive by shooting, how much malt liquor they drank, and how many hookers they own, all the while holding their crotch while they "sing". You f#%ktards need to get a life. Why cause trouble by posting this question in a country category. If you don't like country, then stay the hell out of our category. Why don't you cranial rectal inversions do us all a favor, get together in one big group, and do a jonestown on yourselves, hell some of us might even pitch in for the cyanide and kool-aid.

I love classic country music like Merle Haggard, Loretta Lynn for example. And I love to hear Toby Keith, Allen Jackson, and Josh Turner to name a few.

I am not so much of a fan. Even though I grew up listening to it....because my dad`s side of the family LOVES country music and my mom likes some of it. I just don`t. I guess it is partly because there are some really sad songs...and I like up beat and happy songs. I think it is also because {even though I have a bit of a southern accent} I can not sing the country songs because many of the people that sing them have VERY think country accents...

I love country music for the lyrics and meaning in the song. Not everything is about sex which is nice. My friends don't like the southern twang, but I love it!!!

I like it more as I get older. But never the new stuff. Just the stuff from the 50s and 60s. It seemed more authentic to me. I think even when they tried to sound glitzy with slick production, their roots shone through, and you could detect just how much the show biz star act was aspirational, as opposed to the reality of those performers. Hank Williams Senior is five times as raw as his famous son.
