I have an off-shoulder frilly blouse that has short sleeves with elastic bands. These are very tight and cut into my skin. Any way I can get them to loosen?

Best way is to replace them. It's not very difficult. At the stitching cut a small slit so you can see the elastic, cut it and pull it out. Buy a piece of elastic, measure it around your arm (same width as the old one) tie a safety pin to the tip of the new elastic, pull the safety pin (holding the elastic through the slit and out the other side.) Sew the two ends of elastic together, then sew up the slit.
It's really easy.

Elastic Sleeve Bands

Depending on how the elastic is set into the seam, you can make a small cut into the seam and then a small cut into the elastic. Not too difficult at all. Depending on how tight the shirt is, and how much room you need, if the elastic band is sewn into the seam you may need to cut it in a few places. YOu can also replace the elastic, to maybe put a draw string in instead.

Good luck!

You can make a small slit in the elastic this will loosen them and is the only way other than waiting for them to stretch out on their own or by getting worn out eventually Good Luck !

My sweatpants are like that !! I merely pull the elastic section around the backside part of my foot (stunning decrease than my heel), so i'm rather stepping on the sweatpants as quickly as I walk, although this is wayyy extra mushy...and it seems somewhat much less dorky :] you are able to attempt that ! or merely save pulling on the elastic till it stretches; yet that did no longer paintings for me. solid success !! :]

You could open the seam and snip it.
