Using slang isn't a problem if it doesn't dominate one's vocabulary. I use slang, just as everyone has or does but I'm also a stickler for correct grammar. I think people don't take pride in their language as much as they used to. The words that I hear misused more often than slang are the words 'like' and 'all'. For example: "I went to the store to buy some shoes and the clerk was like, 'will there be anything else?' and I was all, "No, that's it.'". That's so annoying.

Well, due to the language constantly keeps expanding, I don't think the words are lame as all words have implication(s). However, I do believe these people are becoming the "sheep" of the society, as they don't improve their vocabulary. I believe English (or any other language) reflects your knowledge and personality. Therefore, if you don't conquer your native language, you will somehow get manipulated but the linguistics through: TV, Radio, etc. to believe whatever they say is true. E.g. All Muslims are terrorist, which is not true!

Some of those words are not very new ~ in fact some were old fashioned when I was a girl (way back in the paleolithinc era).
But kids will say whatever they want to say, language changes with the times whether we like it or not!

Some are ok, but others make me quite mad, like when I keep hearing "whatever!" all the time.!!! But overall, our days had the better words and phrases. Coo Coo Ca Choo.!!!!!
