My son and I have most always been estranged his entire adult life. Two years ago we supposadly reconciled and I have had a wonder ful two years with my 5 grandchildren. Recently we had a misunderstanding and he informed me he was pressured into having a relationship with me in the first place by his grandmother, sister and wife but now he just wants nothing else to do with me. I really love my grandchildren ranging in age 7 months to eight years old. The two oldest children he adopted but I love them like my own. My husband and I are on a fixed income so there is really no money for an attorney but I will do what I have to do if there are no other resources.

unfortunately, unless your son is incarcerated, you have no legal right to fight to see the grandchildren.

i think that would be a means to an end anyway - and taking legal action would only make matters worse.

give your son some time, and then you could consider asking him if he would be so kind as to listen to your feelings. you could let him know that, if he can't have a "relationship" with YOU, you'll accept it -- but that you adore the grandchildren and you would love to be part of their life... and that you'd like to visit them, or have them to your home to visit.

ask your son to please consider allowing visits.

sometimes when family members don't get along, they can compromise and work things out. i hope something like that might help?

and i hope you get good suggestions and advice here..

take care of YOU in the meantime.

There are no court actions available for the right of granparents in visitation disputes. Only approaching the son and impressing upon him how much it means to have a relationship with the grandkids can mean to both them and to you.

spend some time and take the 30 minute free consult with several different attorneys writing down questions before you get there, you will find out what your rights are as a grand parent

It all depends on what state you live in. Try your local court house (district court) most have simple paperwork that you can fill out and file yourself, and if you do need help in filling the paperwork out see if you have a local legal service in your area....Good Luck!!

Speak with your local child enforcement agancy for advice on your available options. They will be able to help you. If not, call a lawyer and speak with him over the phone and he will be able to give you some options as well. It doesn't hurt to ask.
