Please DO NOT use Rachel Ray's list if you are a college student on a budget. Some of the restaurants are among the pricier in town.

Instead go to some of the "Cheap Eat" sites. Decide what kind of food you want to try and take it from there. The critics who put these lists together have been commenting on Boston food for a long time and really know what people on a "real" budget are looking for.

Bon Appetit! And, yes I do agree with the person who directed you to the Boston hospitals. Many of them, but not all, offer the best cheap eats in the city. In fact, when I used to go to Mass General Hospital, I thought they had the best, most nutritious salads and sandwiches.

You absolutely have to check out this book for where to locate cheap eats and free food and stuff in Boston. It's fantastic:

What area of town are you in, and what type of food do you like to eat? There are lots of inexpensive places to dine. I'll name a few, but if you let us know what area you're going to school in we can probably give you more specifics:

Fenway area
Blackjack Pasta, Queensboro St, Boston
Fresh pasta made daily, 21 kinds of sauce, lots of toppings
I think lunches are about $6, and dinner about $11
You can even order online
https://blackjackpasta.foodtecsolutions.com:9443/
Brown Sugar Cafe - Jersey St, Boston (also near BU)

North End
Galleria Umberto
Only open at lunch, but some of the best slices of scicilian
pizza in town. They go fast though!

Back Bay
Bostone Pizza

Chinatown
New Shanghai
Peach Farm
Budda's Delight (Vietnamese/Vegetarian)

Some of the suggestions above for web sites to view are good

Two placeswhere you can always find good, cheap food in Boston or anywhere: the cafeterias in colleges and hospitals. You'd be surprised, but check it out n your own home town and see for yourself. Big quantities, good quality, and low prices--and you don't have to leave a tip!

If you like sushi, I recommend Shino Express on Newbury St. The fish is fresh and its very inexpensive. Boloco (also on Newbury St.) has tons of internationally inspired burritos and smoothies. If you like Thai, I reccomend 9 Tastes in Harvard Sq. or House of Siam on Cambridge Ave. And if you feel like Italian, hit up the North End, there are tons of little cafes and authentic Italian resteraunts. Check the menus for pricing before you go in. Enjoy!

INmy college in northern Colorado, we are served the backside of the low meals. OUr previous nutrition servers, Golden Corral, have been easily compelled to end because of the fact of their heath code violations, which consisted of a PARAGRAPH of issues they have been doing incorrect. They have been giving us un-cooked poultry, and intensely unwell-arranged nutrition. i'm hoping this provides oyu an theory of how terrible my penitentiary cellular of a school is. P.S. we at the instant are served McDonalds, Taco Bell, some mysterious chineese nutrition, and pizza hut.

If you can get to Kenmore square, there a variety of places there. I would suggest you look around the area around the green line. Or walk around the area around Kenmore.

Also Copley Plaza is a good place to look or the area around Harvard station.

But stay away from South Station and The Combat Zone.

Maria's sub shop. It's in Cambridge. Take the green line to Lechmere station. The shop is on the corner of 3rd street and Gore street. Huge portions, don't order a large!
