We should not be in the middle of a civil war. We eliminated the threat posed by Hussein and the Iraqis need to organize their own society. There is no way we can impose a society on them unless they want it.

Germany and Japan became democracies because they had some experience with parliaments and were more or less developed societies. You had the break the racial superiority element and they became functioning liberal democracies. Iraq does not have this history and its religious factions still believe they live in a pre-Enlightenment world.
