Alternatively play oil empires or counterstrike or something - good boredom taker aways.
Also you could take up programming (VB.NET is a good place to start) or take up graphics design. You never get bored with this sort of stuff!

I suffer from the same malady much of the time. The only thing that relieves this for me is always having a musical instrument available to pick up. It really helps.
