In a democracy, the people should decide what is good. A "noble" lie is simply an attempt to take away the people's sovereignty and its freedom to decide over issues. The idea is antidemocratic in the extreme.
It sounds good when you dress it up in that Orwellian fashion, of course. But I prefer to call them dirty, nasty, filthy vicious lies to cover up criminal activities in the name of something noble nobody can argue with on paper.

You should read the debate between Leo Strauss (the "noble lie" philosopher) and Alexandre Kojeve. It will really reveal how undemocratic Strauss' ideas really are.
Oh, and democracy IS a higher good.

I like Condi Rices effort to promote Noble Lies. Lexus Nexus has her down for saying WMD over 6000 times.
Her Noble effort of brainwashing America did not go un rewarded.

It's not like we don't get fed those on a daily basis from everyone who has sold out to big business. These "noble lies" are by no means a one-sided issue. :)

You mean the Democrat / leftist lies like:
"Bush lied about WMD"
"We're losing the war in Iraq"
"Illegal immigrants are good for the country"
"Bush was behind or knew about 9/11"
"Socialist welfare statism is good"
"Government exceeding its Constitutionally limited powers is a good thing"
"Unfettered communications with our enemies during war is a right"
You mean those lies?

i elect the "in case you're no longer Aryan, you're a lesser person" and "in case you're Jewish, Romani, gay, JW, communist and so on., you're no longer even worth of existence". You do comprehend that via 1942, the "bread" replaced into easily a mixture of many stuff, inclusive of sawdust. needless to say it replaced into incorrect as nazi's began killing different nazi's till now the conflict replaced into over. severe nationalism ability purely a definite style of person can stay in a united states. that's seldom a reliable variety.

"Noble Lie" is an oxymoron. Make that oxyMORON. There's no such thing. A lie is dishonesty at its most basic level. How can dishonesty therefore be noble? The nazis (I won't even give them a capital 'n') were masters of that style of propoganda so I guess that's one way to put it.
