The doctor says I might need an MRI. I just want to know what can be seen in an MRI that might be why it hurts so much.

Be sure your job pays for any testing and doctor visits since you were injured on the job. An MRI will show tissue bone and tendons and usually can show if anything is torn. MRI will not be painful it's just about a 45 minute procedure. Good luck

In and MRI they are able to see beneath the skin. they get a better look at the muscles, ligaments and tendons. They can also look at the cartillage between the joints. if any of these have tears, rips or other problems will show on the MRI.

An ortho doc can see if there is cartilage damage or an ACL tear or any of a few causes for the swelling in your knee and ankle. I would recommend this because an x-ray has limitations.

Eep!

MRIs can spot strains and sprains that an x-ray can't. And it's pretty clear that something got damaged, if you're still hurting.
