America.
I find when advertising now it's all about sex and showing skin to make people interested in companies products anymore. Last night I saw a new Direct TV commercial that dealt with Pamela Anderson when she was in Bay Watch, and had her in her swim suit, saying something like why not watch me in Direct TV. It's sicking now of days to see what everything has come to. This is affecting our kids and how they view things. You might be able to put parental locks on shows they watch and block channels, although think about the ones that aren't but, still have those disgusting commercials come on. To me Amercia is all about sex, drugs, and food.

Im from Ireland.
I think its ridicuous, and kind of boring. Every advert, well, 99% of them, centre around a woman, a nice looking one at that. I know a more percentage of woman do household shopping, cleaning etc, but it gets old seeing the same old same old, id love to see an advert where a man is washing the clothes, and if there is an advert its usually humurous, taking that the man cant do the washing well. Also, Men are only ever used as 'Sexy' and i no people will dispute that, but have you seen that new D+G add...Its so racy about the man, the diest coke ad where the man comes into the lift topless, if that was a woman people would have a problem with that advert being shown.
Its a double standard between men and woman, and woman often say they get the shorthand, but its not true, men are equally discriminated against, advert campagning is one example....

I am from Mexico and think advertising displays woman as sexual object, it degrades us (and is not even an effective tool coz it makes people not to focus in the product but in the model sometimes)
anyway.. for ur research, the country is not as important as the level of education of the people who answers
read the book REIMAGINE Tom Peters...it will give u another feeling about the market

Well, they use both men and women to advertise with sex appeal. But I see what you mean, it does seem to happen for women more.
I don't really have any special feelings about it, here in the U.S. it is usually not inappropriate because of all the censorship. Its not like some places where they show actual nudity in their commercials and stuff.

UK - not a great deal differently than the fact that men are used to advertise too! Take a lot of the aftershave commercials - they are aimed at WOMEN to buy the stuff!!

hi lol I believe you, as many of the ladies folk in catalogues have not have been given any shape what so ever so which you bypass and get this ideal and its too tight on the arms or the boobs etc, while in the event that they used larger fashions then it may be easer to discover something that seems stunning for a transformation. i won't see how having gils kind outfits with out boobs hips or a waste is solid to sell outfits while noone obtainable merely teenage ladies have that form of physique, we want outfits for genuine women folk no longer stick women folk.

USA. I think that the advertiser know that a sexy body will more likely be watched by all than any other prop.
I do however get tired of the reminder that I'm not so perfect...lol

I am from Canada and I think that as far as advertising, women should only be used in advertisements for kitchen and laundry appliances, household cleaning products, and feminine products.
Now I'm in trouble.

USA - The woman in the Hardee's commercial eating a burger and using her body disgusts me. Sure, she's beautiful, but what does she have to do with their food? Nothing. Unfortunately, sex sells and I don't think it will change anytime soon. Using women to advertise just sets us back farther and farther, not only making us nothing more than a mere object but also contributing to eating disorders among women.

crete-greece i think it's awful they're trying to build up an image that isn't real and the resut is that women buy more and more products to become pretty and slim and men just get confused on what is the actual image of the woman they like. women are the most hurt from these ads because they end up with all kinds of insecurity and very low self-esteem...
