Tomorrow , the national security team (Homeland etc) will have an 'urgent' meeting regarding their concerns that a Terrorist Attack may be coming soon . They say they don't have concrete proof that something is imminent , however when putting all the pieces of the puzzle together(which is what we want them to do and what they get paid to do) they are very concerned that something is afoot . Chertoff hinted as much when he said he has a 'gut feeling' that something is gonna happen . Well Chertoff may have a 'gut feeling' but he gets his gut from all the information presented to him . Brian Ross of ABC News has said that he's privy to more info , but has been asked to keep it to himself in the interest of national security.. . in other words , don't broadcast it quite yet cause we don't want the terrorists to know what we know .

What Do You Think We Should Do As A Government And As A People ?

PIP - I thought about emailing you to keep this private , but you have gone off the deep-end when you defend an idiotic response that has nothing to do with the question . That answer that you defended shows complete lack of respect for this forum and everyone on it . Including YOU . . .. " A little blunt" ? WHAT?
The most irrational thing I've ever seen you post . Now how do you expect me or anyone else to ever take your points seriously when you have now stooped to garbage like " I had toast for breakfast" ?

PIP - Perhaps starting your comment with a disclaimer , rather than a defense would've made more sense . People who answer like that shouldn't be given credit for doing wrong .

I think we should stay vigilant and show a united front against terrorism. Too many people forgot what happened on 9/11. We can never let that happen again.

Keep our way of life! Whatever happens, life as usual as much as possible. This is one of our greatest weapons against the extremist terrorist. Our economy must continue to flourish because without our strong economy we cannot stop the extremist from forcing their ideals down the throats of more and more peace loving Muslims. We must be able to win the economic war above all because that is what will eventually topple the extremist head in Iran with losing the least American lives.

Well, I watched, the spin afterwards was sickening as usual both from the left and the right. I'm sure I need not mention the media outlets by name but FOX cut away when Tony Snow began getting grilled and CNN spoke of how sad it was that we spent billions to have a home land security department just so Chertoff could raise citizen awareness by commenting on a "gut" feeling. This is AMERICA we deserve better than this.

Sorry Earnest, I must be losing it.

Maybe I'm a wee bit too hormonal today, but this just ticks me off! Why call a meeting about a meeting we are going to have, eventually?

Why call a meeting and tell the American people, 'We know something but we can't tell you. So we are telling you that we know something that we can't tell you." All any of us can do is go about our daily lives anyway, so why slowly drop a veil of fear over the people? Some would suggest there is an agenda behind that.

Just go do what we pay you to do. If you know what's up, then infiltrate the plan and put a stop to it. Simple! If you don't think you can infiltrate it and you know its going to happen regardless, then what is this meeting about meetings? Is it "strategic positioning" so you can all tell us, "We told you so! See? We are doing our jobs. We knew something horrible was going to happen. See? We've even got "gutt instinct!"

That is unless they want it to happen (This time) because there is a lot of crap showering down on the white house these days and its time for another deflection, distraction, turn-your-head-and-look event that will get everyone off their back. We need something to rally the nation again, 'cause, "By George, we gots division!"

I don't know. I am at a point where I think everyone in office sucks! And I mean EVERYONE! Maybe next week, when the hormones level off again I'll feel differently, but as for today, they all suck!

I am just a little more than surprised that another terrorist attack hasn't occured since 2001. I have often felt, but certainly hope that this is not the case, that the enemy is waiting to perpetrate another "spectacular" attack, and that this might be the reason for no terrorist activities since 2001, in combination, of course, with greater intensity on seeking out terrorist cells. What can the people do? Grin and endure, I suppose. What can the government do? Well, I trust everything they CAN do!

The same as during the Cuban missile crisis as far as the people go. I still remember that situation. Go on with your life and hope and pray for the best. People in large cities can be extra vigilent in reporting anything out of the ordinary.

Why are they having a press conference today about an emergency meeting tomorrow? Generally, the meeting would be first, then the press conference. Does this mean they are going to announce why they have been searching vehicles when stopping people for traffic violations in the past week throughout the country?

What happened to the statement that as long as we're in Iraq. we won't be attacked here? False statements such as these are the reason people no longer trust our government. I would not be surprised in the least if the government declares we will now be subject to searches without reasonable cause. I honestly feel that the government should discontinue immigration if the threat of terrorism is going to lead to the U.S. living under martial law.

All I can say is that this is planned. Back at the end of April, the U.S. (along with some other countries) via computer, did a test to see which emergency the American people would respond to with the greatest fear.

Just by coincidence, on May 9th, President Bush signed an E.O. stating that if a national emergency came about in any part of the United States, then F.E.M.A. (as a result of the fact that he would have total control over the federal government) would take over and we will then lose our constitutional rights.

Congress can't review this E.O. for six months. What do you thing our sold out congress will do when that six months is up? Congress will renew the E.O. because there is no such thing as a democrat or republican or independent.

We have been sold out for the almighty dollar. Politicians are nothing more than that. Politicians. Call them democrat if you like. Call them republican if you like. Call them independent if you like but none have truly stood up for the constitution except for one. And his name is Ron Paul. I say go Ron Paul.

You do the math and come to your own conclusions as to what you think this all means.

Give me thumbs down all you want, but soon you will see what I say to be true.

sandicheeks was a little blunt.. but what so many people missed is that is exactly what we should be doing.. not having toast.. but living our lives without fear.. if we live in paranoia and fear we are pandering to what the terrorists want. Sure, fill up on gas, buy a few extra groceries and keep some purified water or water purification tablets in your garage.. the same type of things you should have in preparation for anything on a grand scale.. hurricanes... floods... whatever... but at the same time we have to remember to relax and live life.

P.S. I'll be at work.. so nope.. not going to be able to watch it.

Edit: Have you ever been in a situation in life where someone says something silly and in a joking way and you can run with it to make a real point? I considered the toast remark the joke and ran with the real point. that's all. Just relax man, you know I always give you my honest opinion, you can at least respect that even if you don't agree with it.

I will be watching. I think the threat is serious, and that the present administration has made mistakes but has done a far better job than either Gore, Kerry, Clinton (Billl or Hillary), Obama or Edwards would have done.

I am feeling cynical today, so I will also say that many on the left will claim this is just a ruse by the administration to garner support, and that there is no threat. they will continue their campaign of lies and distortions, claiming Bush is "tapping our phones" without warrants and "torturing prisoners." They will call for all of these programs to be stopped, since there is no real threat.

If we ARE attacked, they will say it's Bush's fault because he should have "connected the dots" (without using the surveillance, detention and interrogation programs that have been so successful to date, mind you), or because he "created more terrorists" by fighting the ones who already attacked us and were otherwise up to no good. Or they will claim that Bush himself ordered attacks on the US, so he could take more dictatorial powers for himself.

Really, did I leave anything out? Bush is wrong if we are not attacked, and wrong if we are.

Sheesh!

PS Look at some of the other questions and answers this morning - unfortunately, they prove my point! How sad. I'd rather be wrong.

Also, if Bush is "fearmongering" about a group PROVEN to have carried out many acts of mass murder in order for him to take control, should the same accusations be leveled at the "global warming" crowd, who want to take control of our lives, economy and income by fearmongering about a theory that is hotly disputed?

My blood is really going this morning!

I'm thinking why in the hell they had to announce a special emergency meeting? Just do it. If a reporter has some information that will help stop a terrorist attack then they need to work with the authorities. If they impede an investigation they should be arrested. As the people we need to let them do their jobs, they do actually have a lot of professionals working for our safety.

I think as a government, they should not be leaking information like that to the public. Why? because all alphabet news channels are seen all over the world, so if the terrorist see that we are aware of their presence they will calm down and wait till the "terror levels" are down and attack again. like 9/11.

As a people, we need to be vigilant and report any suspicious behavior. GET NOSY!!

as far as the emergency meeting. i hope they cover it online because i am at work and not at home
