OK, While Harry Potter does have my heart, the books are the ones that truly get me going. I went to see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix at 12:00 am for the premiere and felt that I was about to commit suicide when I got out of the theatre. The movie was good when you look at it from the sidelines and when you have no clue whatsoever what the book states and what's happening in the text. I know many people refused to read the 870 page book, but if you let yourself be guided by the movie, it will be awful. The cut out more than half of the boook and skip scenes and then they make you confused if you havent read the book since a lot of things are altered and there are many incongruencies and unexplained events, or events explained in the the wrong way. I totally and absolutley agree with the fact that the films are absolute rubbish compared to the books. I like the films independantly if I hadent read the books but when you compare one totally outweighs the other, and the written form is so supreme over it. I think that sometimes the actors do a good job, but the movie quality is poor when you put it next to the book series. I also should add that this is not the first movie in which they cut out half the book, in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire they ommited a great deal of text and therefore created confusion. In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets it was the same way when Ginny practicly didnt appear in the film in which she was supposed to be the star or so to speak. In harry Potter and the Philosofer's Stone they had a lot of incongruencies too. They are absolute rubbish. And thank you for taking time to read all of my ongoing ranting about it, I JUST SUPPORT YOU ALL THE WAY!

Wondering what you consider good movie going. That will give a base to start on. Harry Potter movies are meant to instill a wide sense of imagination and to help kids learn to think before they act. Hence the adventures that lack fore thought in planning. They also teach kids to face fears and come up with a plan to conquer those fears. The message should be to plan through before embarking...characters don't really die from their actions....humans do. Let your imagination have a good time.

I think that the first two movies (with the original director) were a nice accompaniment to the books but the following have all been rubbish.

I do not think a movie could top the excellence of the books themselves, but "terrible" and "un watchable blunders" are not adjectives I would use.

One would think that after 5 films, the kids who play the main characters would learn how to act... at least a little?

Stick to the books my friends.

No, can't agree with you on that. I really enjoy the movies and can't wait until tonight to see the new one!
