Vegetable oil and elbow grease. The oil will slowly dissolve the gum without attacking the paint. The fresher the gum, the easier the job.

My father once used peanut butter because it stuck to the gum and he could work on a cup of coffee while the oil did it's job.

It's best to work in a garage or shade of some kind.

Some lighter fluid on a rag will wipe it right off.

In most cases I would use "Goof Off" available at most retail stores and supermarkets.
