if its water based, then the sink should be fine. its only oil based paints that are a problem for getting back into rivers and whatnot. unless the paints say on the tins that they are hazardous

Latex paints are suppose to be handled as a bio-hazard, but most people don't. Call the EPA, and or your city government if you want to do it right. I would never pour it down a drain. The idea of letting it dry is a good one, but it does release chemicals into the air. The can should tell you what the VOC rating is. You can put down some plastic, pour the paint on the plastic, and put kitty litter in the paint. This will absorb the paint and a lot of the chemicals.

let the paint dry then just throw it, can and all, into your regular trash. You can even buy stuff at paint stores that harden latex paint really fast. I don't know that pouring it down the drain would harm anything, but plumbers are expensive, just in case.

You could call the people who pick up your regular trash and ask them.

Let it dry out. You might even throw some sand in with it. Then put it in the dumpster.
