Two red swordtail's have a rather large white spot on the bottom of there belly's, I have two other swordtail's without one....Whats the problem?

I don't think its "Ick", The fish have one rather large spot Ick is when the have many small ones all over there body....

It's possibly a fungus or many a bacterial infection of some type. Also, if these are female swords that are very pregnant, it's not too uncommon for them to lose some coloration in that area before they give birth.

Look at the area very closely for any signs of fungus which would be a fuzzy or cotton-like growth. Also check for any other discoloration ( particularly redness or a gold like color) and sliminess or excess slime coat production. Those are often signs of a bacterial infection.

For a fungus infection I would suggest treating with Maroxy, if it appears to be bacterial most any commonly available antibiotic such as Maracyn or Maracyn TC will usually handle it. Just treat as directed on the packaging in either case.

well if it looks like salt then it could be ick. Just try tabelts and see if it diesapears.
