Come on;
"there is nothing wrong with improving (ones) life
and for society"?

So-called "great leaders" do not get greedy; they get a "Moral life"; do you know what that is?
Its a conviction-***-dream,where the leaders logic and
SITUATION propels him/herself to intensify and sometimes
to "re-announce" their INVIGORATED plan-of-action.

Its almost a 'given'! Selected and elected politicians turn-out
like this; Have you not watched history?can you not listen,
learn, and see the above?
We still live in a time of Power Politics- if you dont believe
me go and ask your boss or your parents.
Our history is still one of power politics; people are even
Educated perhaps not to be "greedy" but certainly to be the
best-and therefore NOT TO WORRY ABOUT THE CASUALTIES ALONG THE WAY.
Casualties?
Look around you my friend(and you lot!); Our so-called
ideal faith in darwinism is and will produce casualties-and if
you were a leader YOU would have to rely on people in your
team, who are probably neo-darwinists,to implement your
(non-greedy and better)plan.
A plan that you rightly say should be one that is SEVERELY influenced by learning-from-ones-mistakes!!!!!!!
i recommend that you look at,read and study the works below
so that if you find fault in any,you can learn some more and possibly let us know the consequences.

They say that power corrupts, that isn't true. Power attracts the corrupt or the corruptible. You can safely assume that anybody seeking high political office is corrupt from the onset. That has always been true and is true today; perhaps not 100% but close enough to not make any difference.

Think about it, where does government come from? Go back to the smallest human social groups and look at the leadership and the reason for it. Hunters and warriors offering protection and food in return for others supplying homes and tilled land, a place to rest and recover and store needed materials or weapons. Do you believe that it was always the case that the people being 'protected' were given a choice? Power, the ability to kill is what determined who lead and who followed. That mentality is what is used to this day: Might makes right!

The question to ask from past lessons is: Do we need leadership based on power or is there a better way? Would the human race be able to work together using education and mutual best interest instead of coercion and force? I think that our need to be led is forced on us and that the human animal is quite capable of learning to work in cooperative groups voluntarily instead of being forced by a government body that sucks more than half of our productivity to support it.
