Wow this is a good question for me since most of my friends have turned their back on me, I really only have 1 good friend out of the 50 I had. I mean 1 Friend is better then none. I am single and have been for a few years. I am the only single person in my family right now besides my cousins that are to young to date or just not yet wanting to, and the rest have someone or they are married. With out my good friend and some family I would not be able to keep my self going. I am barley hanging on as I am now. I am sure I made this sound better then it is but I am so lonely it has become apart of my life and I have no choice but to deal with it but I am so tired of it, and every day I get weaker and weaker over it. I handle it very poorly. I go out with a smile on my face like I am ok but I am so hurt and broken inside. Everyone gets lonely but when you are as lonely as I am it is so unbearable. On the record I have felt lonely most of my life and I have been lonely most of my life besides my family being their for me. I owe them a lot. What I do to handle it is almost what I do every day it is apart of my life so I have to find anything to keep my self busy.
-Computer
-Work out
-Martial arts
-Movies
-Gaming
-Playing Pool
Just anything to keep me occupied. However, the rest of the time I am really beating my self up over it, and hopeing tomorrow might be a little better, and hopeing I can get through it.

I have no idea, but I am the same way as your friend. I am not so much lonely as I am alone, and I've always been that way. I've had friends when I was in school, but truth be told, I never felt like I needed friends, and when they all went their seperate ways, I never bothered to keep in touch. I guess it just depends on the kind of person you are. Did your friend grow up in a lonesome environment? People can get used to that until it becomes comfortable for them. I wish I could offer more. I don't really know much about how to deal with lonliness because I've never really experienced it before. Edit: elohimself, some of the best conversations I've had were with myself. :D Even when I was wrong, I was still right.

I have a hard time getting motivated when I am depressed. I try to get out of the house and go somewhere to get my head straight. Like a walk or just drive around.

Last night I read a good book which took my mind off being lonely. Hearing my neighbors 'getting busy' wasn't helping.

It depends, sometimes music, sometimes eating and then sometimes I will just go for A drive w/ the windows down and blast the music and then there are the really bad times that I will just lay in bed and feel sorry for myself.............I hate that one, that is when it is really bad.
