How does the intel gma 950/900 (64MB shared Memory) with 1GB ram and 2.164 Ghz processor compare to the nvidia geforce 6150 LE? (not sure of shared memory) with 960MB shared ram and a 2.0 Ghz cpu (Dual core). I want to run certain games, but I don't know which processor would run them better.

My bad, the first processor is dual core too. BTW I'm really trying to run nulldc -dre@mcast emulator : )

the dual core

Gaming performance is a LOT MORE dependent on the GPU architecture, core/memory clock speeds. Even a lousy single core processor paired with a 7300GT ddr3 budget card would beat to smithereens those two SLOW integrated graphics even if paired w/ dual core processors.

at the moment single cores with higher clocks will be faster. however in the near future when games are running on vista and optimized for multiple cores, the dual core will be faster. even now alot of games work better on dual cores but keep in mind games like sims2, quake 4, battlefield 2, cs,sc and diablo will run better on a single core with higher clock. newer games such as battlefield 2142 and sc II will run better on dual cores.

just get the dual core its not a significant clock drop and itll be more effecient and work faster with newer games. also if you want to run newer games get a good gpu with at least 256 mb dedicated video memory and a ramdac clock speed of at least 400 mhz. aim for the 8500gt or the 7600gt with the 7600 gt being better and more expensive but the 8500 gt being future proof(supporting dx10).

Despite the difference in GHz, a dual core is always your best bet.

Gaming performance is not very much dependent on CPU performance, but GPU [video card] performance.

Your graphics card pushes the pixels out of your computer into your monitor. I think you should invest on a better video card if you really want more FPS in your games.

Any video card is faster than any integrated graphics solution.
